Painful Injection!

Ok, so I was in the bathroom and getting ready to inject some B12.

I stick the pin into the bottle and pull out what I need. I have switched and not switched pins before. This time I decided to not switch, I went to inject and it hurt a lot and didn't even break the skin after a good push or two. So I figure, what the hell, I'll just get a fresh pin. No big deal.... Well I throw a fresh pin on there and Oooh yea, smooth like butter it went in... Well about halfway in... and I'm no expert here, but I'm damn sure I hit a fuckn' nerve because it hurt like bloody hell and sent a very sharp pain right to the tip of where the needle was in my delt! I pulled it out slowly and the pain went away. Holy fuck, that sucked.

Just thought I'd share.....

Is there any place you can go where you can be taught how to properly inject and avoid nerves, veins, problems etc... ???

Supposedly there are a lot less nerves and veins in your glute area, but it seems to me I've hit nerves and veins there more often than other spots. lol.

hmmm i know
u should get someone to do your injection for you
i know this chick named fitchick
i think shes a needle freak and may be interested :)
just a thought

When you say change pins does that mean you shoot with dirty needles or stick dirty needles into your vials? If so I'd strongly suggest you didn't do this.

bro' changing pins refers to the fact that most of us draw with one size pin and inject with another....I am assuming in Zylo's case he may have drawn with a 22g and just gone ahead and decided to inject with the same pin he drew his solution with.
Zylo....typically when injecting b12 i go glute and use a slin pin as well...it pushes through easy as pie and seldom ever have any problems hitting anything. And stop using those rusty old pins from 1980...lol

Ask Fitchick for a hand and you'll be fine. Hell i wouldnt complain if i knew someone who would give me a hand with my shots.

I guess you could try to get your hands on an anatomy book that has pics that may help ya. I just use spotinjections.com and stick away.

mdnt is correct in the fact that zylo is pulling the solution from the vial with one NEW CLEAN pin and then switching to a DIFFERENT CLEAN NEW PIN to inject :)

All of us who have injected have hit a nerve at one time or another. Welcome to the club! When I do b12, I also go in the glute--much easier there.

Damn it, you're telling me this is common and I'm probably going to hit some nerves again?

For anyone wondering, I'm using 25Gauge, 3cc 5/8 Pins.

I draw with one pin, then switch to a fresh one for the injection.

I wasn't understanding. Actually, I still don't but thats nothing new. I'd usually use the same for everything as long as its clean. I was thinking because the inject hurt, that its from a dull needle which as far as I know wouldn't make a differance going through a rubber stopper once. My bad. I'm no expert but is 5/8 long enough to hit muscle? Really I don't know much about what it actually takes. I've seen many a cut, on many a place, on the body and that doesn't seem very deep to be driving into muscle tissue. Is b-12 differant? I've never took a doc shot, always did my own at 1.5 inch.

OB, your pin gets dulled by that stopper. There was a post on here by cyhon if i remember correctly thats showed what the pin actually looks like and its not a pretty site. Use a frsh one every time.

Thanks, I didn't know that, very surprising. I'd think there would be much more infectious risks swithing pins. Never tried changing, but then again, never felt a dull pin in my life. I wouldn't think cutting a nerve with a sharp or dull pin would matter however. Really though I'm not sure, never had a prob. I mean I've felt pain in bad areas but I couldn't relate it to a stopper dulling issue.

I'm doing Delt, Tricep & Bicep Injections. 5/8's is long enough for that.

If I was hitting up glutes or quads I'd go with a 1.5" Pin.

yeah thats what I though until my freind hit a huge vein in my lats.....pulled it out and swear it was like f*ckin fire hydrant....2 ft squirter, looked like those cheesey kung foo flicks, lol. Bruised like a SOB.....last shot she ever gave me.....funny thing was when I looked in the mirror I could see teh vein plain as day.

I hit a nerve in the glutes and didn't pull out. I kind of relaxed on it a bit and then angled it bit, and it seemed to 'go around' the nerve. I've always been nervous that I might hit the main sciatic nerve. I've heard of people passing out when that happens. That'd be quite a sight--face down on the bathroom floor with a needle sticking out of my ass. LOL!
