This has been the only, well I should say the foundation of my chest training. My chest is one of my weakest parts and the only way I've been able to see growth was from smoking my chest by isolation exercises first then to compound movements.
I've also started thinking about doing that on my stronger bodyparts to allow me to thoroughly work the areas with less poundage.
I know the old saying about compound first then isolation, but that just doesn't work for me.
What about you guys?

Great post!!! I do my dead-lifts almost last to prevent injury and I do side laterals for shoulders first but for chest, I always start with incline press and go heavy but my chest sucks also. You got me thinking, so Ill try to pre-exhaust them asnd let you know. So tell me how your doing it?? Incline fly for 3 sets??

I'll start with Incline Cable crossovers, standing cable crossovers, or even pec deck. I slowly work up in weight and sometimes will even do a drop so that my chest is totally pumped before I do a single pressing movement. That way I know my pecs aren't going to need much to gas out 100% while my shoulders and tri's will be fresh and force me to stop b/c of chest exhaustion, not front delts of tri's.

This really got me thinking. I never tried pre exhausting like this. Sounds like something new to try

i pre exhaust everything dude, with legs i do high high reps with leg extenision first and curls, then for chest i do high reps 40 or so 4 sets cables before i begin, back i do pull over or high pulls high reps, arms light db curls or overhead one arm ext for tris.. it just makes the muscle so full of blood for me and makes my pumps and mind muscle so much better, im not as strond but thats not what im after

I don't pre-exhaust anything, I'll do a few light stretches and a couple warm up sets, but that's about it. It's never overkill as I don't want to take anything away from the actual workout

I usually preexhaust with pec dec, cables then move on to hammerstrength , smith machine cause I've never been a heavy bencher and then flys for a good stretch. Longer arms suck. Lol

Actually, I guess I do kinda pre-exhaust my quads with leg extensions now that I think about it. And on hams day I will do standing leg curls to close to pre-exhaustion, but my weak upper body can't really handle it

mostly on shoulder/trap day.......i do side raises (from behind back, bottom cable) and farmers walks/shrugs then finish up with 2 moderately heavy sets of standing military
