I use this squat machine because it's easier on my knees and hips. Does anyone know the squat to weight ratio of the Precor super squat 624? I can stack 7 plates on each side of that thing and do multiple sets of 15 reps (going for 8 plates next week). Precor doesn't seem to list it on their web site.

I used a different machine before which I got the numbers for, and that one said you lifted 2/3 (66%) plus 60 lbs for the carriage. I could put 7 plate on each side of that one, too. The weight ratio on that machine said I was squatting 475 lbs. The Precor machine seems similar, but it would be nice to know what I'm actually lifting.

It's funny because I get so many strange looks when I put all that weight on. It's like no one ever squats anymore. Used to do 405 on the free squat until the pain made me stop. That was probably 9-10 years ago.

I did the math a couple of years ago and 66% plus carriage weight seems about right. I know what you mean about the looks. I fill the machine with 9 plates per side, then use straps to add an additional 2x45, 2x25 and a 10 to each side, for an even 1100 lbs. A year and a half ago I was doing three sets of 15 this way. That was until I tore a Serratus Posterior Inferior on my left side. It was so tramatic, I thought a broke a rib. The weight shifted down about an inch but I still got it up. I had to...no spotter. 6 weeks later, I was back at it. I love that machine. I'm 52, 185 lbs and suffer from arthritis. I still free squat but with much less weight.
