Silk has decided to get rid of the 2012 Vette for a New (or a few years old) 2500 Duramax diesel truck!! She will be getting the 4X4 and hers will have a camper on it. I think its reasonable that when she gets her new truck my old one should get new wheels and tires and a lift kit... Opinions???
As you guys know we are planning to retire ASAP (hopefully just under 10 years) and move to our place in the Tennessee mountains. We knew a new vehicle would be required when we moved and we agreed that should it be reasonable, why not do it now?
As of now we're looking for a black 2500 4x4 diesel. My pops retired from GM so hopefully I can keep the good deals coming.

Nothing hotter than a woman in a mans truck!!! Cindee has always wanted an Excursion but they are hard to come by. People hold in to them and the one out there have been run down.

We were looking at an H1 first, but they are pretty hard to come by and the 6.5 turbo diesel in them isn't held in high regard

If you're getting a diesel though, I'd not recommend a Ford. I would consider the DuraMax or a Cummins over any Super Duty

AGREED! I have a 6.7 Cummins in my Dodge

The job I had in California all the foremen had 6.0 Superduty Fords-they were in and out of the shop all the time

the 6.0 are the worst diesel engines

I remember trading in my Vette a couple of years ago. I thought it would be easy and I thought I had fully prepared myself but when it came time to sign over the title I got cold feet. I did it anyway and it was the right move so I don't have any regrets but I'd sure like to have another one. I like to do the track stuff so I might look at an 07-09 C6 Z06 one day. I'm guessing when the C7's come out the price will drop into my range. Well hopefully she won't miss it. She is getting a bad ass ride to replace it though!

Around here you almost have to have a 4x4 and I prefer a truck. I have never owner a diesel personally, but all the guys I know that work in the coal mines get the 6.7 Cummins. I guess it's also because they get $6k discount through Consol on Dodge vehicles but still that's what they say they wanted anyway. I love Ford trucks, but until they go woth a bigger diesel engine I'd never consider getting one. I prefer the 300 inline 6 anyday over any of Ford's diesel trucks.

they do, they have the 7.3...a buddy of mine has one and he loves it

I have been a Ford guy for over a decade and love them HOWEVER, EVERY mechanic that I talk to says you can't go wrong with a Dodge and that's what they all drive-so there has to be something to it

I think women in trucks are sexyyyyyyyyyy.... But going from a 2012 Vet to a big truck is a big change. What if she dont like it and wants the Vet back?

Lol, it's my idea. I thought about it a lot before I mentioned it to The Dude. The Vette is fun, but I'm really focused on our future goals. But yes, a huge change!

I'm not interested in a Ford for the reasons mentioned.
Stick a screw driver into the door lock and hit it with the palm of your hand and turn it. The doors open. Stick a screwdriver in the ignition and twist it. The truck starts. Once Dodge starts retard 7 year old proofing their doors and ignitions I may look at them. Dodge and Chrysler products account for 90% of the legitimate car thefts in the state of Florida

really? so Dodge are easy to steal and Ford diesel engines are just junk? that leaves Chevy... which of the 3 are the flimsiest

so I guess that there is something wrong with everything

Chevy-poorly built
Ford-junk engine
Dodge-easy to steal

shit!

Sold her in November.

You have to be missing her just a little bit! Very clean and I love the color too. Looks like a fun time right there!

I've heard bad stuff about the Ford diesels, but have never driven one. They're nice looking though. There is no argument that the Cummins is the best when it comes to diesel motors. The locks and ignitions are horrible though. Do a quick search of Dodge locks and ignitions... I have had Chevy's all my life and never had a problem. I'm also real close with a GM master tech.
Everyone has their opinions. I have mine

I do mizz her, Super clean and fast. Under her was so clean and work was done the right way. I had people stop me everwhere just to talk and ask questions.

I forgot about the 7.3 but I don't think it's worth the extra money. As fat as engines go I'd still stick with the Cummins. But I never knew about the theft issues though

Just got it. 2013 black Crew Cab Duramax diesel. It's a Z71 4x4 with leather, 20" wheels, and a 35 gallon gas tank.
I'll get some pics tomorrow.
