I am heading to the gym for the first time since my double hernia repair a week ago Monday. I feel like my core is still pretty sore so I'm going to try to focus on that. I walked a mile yesterday and felt fine until about 8 hours afterward. Any of you guys on here had a similar injury before? If so, how did you handle getting back to work? I think I am heading the right direction but who knows...anyhow. I'll post something up tomorrow about it. Nite MC

I cant believe after all the stupid crap i've done i've never had a hernia. How'd you do it?

I feel like a huge puss...man that was miserable. I went 15 minutes on the elliptical and then laid down to try some sit-ups. Did a set of 5, then a set of 10, then a set of 15 and I was finished. At this rate I am going to beat out Cutler next year at Mr. O!!!!!

I have had them for awhile, well at least one for sure. I remember getting under 455 on the squat rack 3 years ago and on the 3rd rep I felt like someone has just struck a match on my groin. It started burning and I had to have help getting the weight up. I didn't work out for a week and then I quit going so heavy with everything. Then I got into school and didn't have the time to work out as hard as I had been. I don't know about the other one...I had an appendectomy last August and the surgeon found them both when he cut me open.

I figured I was going to have to get them fixed and it might as well be now so I can get over it and back to training. But damn....this better improve quickly or it's going to take forever.

damn... I do stupid shit like carry motors, transmissions, and rear diffs around. Hell, my back was sore today and i just carried our dishwasher out of the house...lol.

You gotta love test!

im the same way bro when we are at work somebody will be like give me a minute ill help you with that pipe, 8 seconds later you see my big ass carrying 300ilbs of metal across the plant lol. Probably why ive torn so much shit in my day haha. Ive gotten to the point where training is too vital to me now i wait for help haha.

dont feel like a pussy spidey Rome wasnt built in a day bro. Shit when i had my subscap reatached to my humerous i couldnt lift over 5 pounds above shoulder level for 5 months, then had to take baby steps after that. Be patient brotha youll be back to hitting it hard as ever in no time.

Take it slow. It will be faster then doing too much too soon and re-riping it. Listen to your body. Dam, I give great advice - I just wish
I could follow it myself !!! lol

Thanks guys...I am taking is much slower that I want to. I talked my surgeon yesterday and he told me to give him 2 weeks from the surgery day and he will release me to workout again...just not with 500 pounds squats yet. He also told me no sit-ups yet, but I know why and it's safe for me to do them the way I was. However, I'm going to listen to him. I walked 1.5 miles yesterday and am going to do a hike up the mountain today...but probably not to the top. If I feel good when I come down I will jog for about 1/2 a mile. Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys.

does you doctor know your on gear? my doctor wanted to check my prostate when i tore my hamstring. He said its not normal to be squatting over 500lbs. I should have came clean, i think he would have been cool with it.

nah, I haven't been on for over a year now so I haven't told anyone. However I am getting a full workup next week. Going in for blood work and I'll probably talk to them about a prostate exam b/c I've never had one. We'll see though. When I start up again I will definitely be finding a doc who is fine with it, but I live in a relatively small town right now and I want to keep things to myself as much as I can.

my orthopedist probably has his suspicions, When i ruptured my bicep he asked me what i was doing and i told him deads for 550x3 he about shat himself. Ive never told a doc and unless something is wrong where i need to speak up for medical reasons i doubt i ever will.

lol... when you have a young doc, they probley work out. So when you tell them what your lifting they really know how impossible it is.

I'm doing pretty good man....had my exam on Monday - ended up with a B on it which is amazing considering how much I didn't study for it and how much I hated the subject!!! Saw my doc on Tues and he cleared me to work out but told me to watch the sit-ups and squatting with heavy weight or awhile. I ended up crashing on Monday about 1 and slept until 7, then got up until around 11 and woke up yesterday at 9. Didn't go to class at all yesterday or today and I'm finally back up here studying again.

Going to the gym in 2 hours to actually lift a weight for the first time in awhile, so I'm pumped about that...but I'm definitely going to take it slow. Going to do shoulders today I think and stay light on them.

You guys getting a prostrate exam - you know if you have a quality doctor if he gives you candy and flowers before the exam !!!
