Hi all,

In a few days I am hoping to post a link to a research study I'm working and I wanted to introduce myself first. I've been working with a research team at Touro University for the past year and we're conducting a survey to learn more about people's exercise habits, supplement and steroid use. The research should debunk some popular exercise and performance enhancement myths -- and hopefully teach us a lot about current fitness and steroid-use trends.

I know I'm new to the board, but we've had a good reception most places after we've chatted with board members for a bit, so feel free to ask any questions you may have and I can also post some links to the threads we have going on other sites if anyone is interested.

Thanks!
-Mike

How long will the survey last? I mean how much time wise is the participation need. Just questions? A log?

Did you post a link over at Professional Muscle a bit ago? If you did, I was disappointed that they deleted it (or so it seemed--I couldn't find the link again).

I didn't post something at Professional Muscle, but my partner may have. Yeah, it's always too bad when our link gets removed from a site! We're hoping to show steroid users in a more positive light and provide good, basic information to educate health care providers on the issue. It's understandable though I suppose ... on most sites we haven't previously been members, so it's hard to tell exactly what our motivations are.

As long as there are no objections, I'll post the link here shortly.

Thanks!
-Mike

What about those who are only on HRT? Would that be useful information?

Yeah, definitely! There is a question that will give you an option of saying you receive steroids through a doctor's prescription.

Thanks!

The information is just stored on a secure server (and it's completely confidential, so the survey responses aren't linked to any information that can be traced back to an actual individual, including IP address). Is that what you're asking?

use a proxy server for the survey if needed. I'd say about 95% of the questions regarding topics of AAS as well any related sides people might have, are pretty much right on. Some of the drop downs when selecting 'cycle related' questions are tricky. meaning put your daily dose, and make sure you mark 2x per week... don't put total MG of 1000mg (say for test for example), and put down once a week, if you don't do it that way.

There were only a couple of questions that seemed almost restricted, or wouldn't allow me to answer the way I truely felt, but it was in NO way biased..... purely an informational survey. It also didn't specify dates per se. It would give a range of >12 months <12months or Never

stuff like that. The only thing that the server would grab initially is, where the link is pulling the inforation from, the referrer (meaning they could see with any basic traffic analyzer) that 85% or 110 click throughs were referred from musclechemistry.com ....

In regards to a 'secure server'... once again, the server will have logs and show all the basic statistics of the people who access your site, which pages they answered (meaning if they completed the survey (page names)), even if it is secure, unless you turned all logging off, and the user doesn't accept cookies you can see the IP of who landed there and where they came from. And those 'web analyzer' software packages are typically free when you get a hosting plan.

I didn't, but now that I think about it. If you really want response you need to maybe you an anonym link for it. So it if someone clicks on the link it won't show they came from here. If you the user (the one taking the survey), want to be secure, then copy the link and goto http://www.hidemewell.com/, and plug in the servey information. That page will show you YOUR IP, but you can fetch any link you want and it's free as far as I know.

Summary:

Eliminate the referrals from MC.com
Goto : http://www.hidemewell.com/
plug in: http://www.surveymonkey.com/touroexerciseresearch
(click the orange option button and turn off cookies)
Then under the ads click the little orange "go" button. And you can safely/securely do the survey without worry. Hope it helps and hope this information doesn't obscure your research

Thanks for that response, Stickler! Just so everyone knows, we don't have any web analyzer software installed on the survey pages, so we can't tell where people are coming from or view their IP's.

But if you just want to be totally safe, then definitely follow Stickler's advice.

Thanks again all!

Only about a week left, so I wanted to give this another bump. Trying to get a strong, final push!

Thanks!

Hi all,

Our research advisor wants us to continue collecting data for an extra month, so we're keeping this up a bit longer. We currently have almost 1,700 surveys taken and 754 AAS users (400 of those have completed the survey completely). Our goal is to get 500 complete AAS surveys, so 100 more!

Take a look if you haven't already: http://www.surveymonkey.com/touroexerciseresearch

Thanks again!

and if you're worried about anonyminity read my thread up above... regardless, good (unbiased) research that may be in our favor is always another strike back at the uneducated!
