Caffeine, Ephedrine and Amphetamines all trigger the release of cortisol. Cortisol is a our stress hormone. The hormone that causes fight or flight. Ingestion of stimulants such as ECA stacks for fat burning and energy, amphetamines commonly prescribed for fatigue and attention deficit have one detrimental side effects to achieving body building goals. They release cortisol. Cortisol does two things to hamper our athletic goals.

1. Increased cortisol eats away muscle
2. Increased fat storage due to the trigger of the emergency state which tells our body to store energy theoretically because when we naturally feel threatened we use this energy to fight or flight (run).

These days we artificially cause our bodies to feel this stress thus not needing the extra energy causing fat deposits which vary genetically. Hard to rid fat tissue around the mid section is a good indicator. Anavar has been shown to actually activate the use of this fat also known as B.A.T. (brown adipose tissue). Doses as little as 10-15mg have shown to counter the effect of stimulants.

Other simple cortisol suppressants:

1. Vitamin C: 2-5 grams daily
2. Phosphatidylserine: 800mg
3. Acetyl-L-Carnitine: Lessens response to stress
4. Glutamine: Most abundant amino acid in muscle. Anti-Catabolic very important to muscle synthesis.
5. Taurine: Second most abundant amino acid.

Zinc, Ginko, Magnolia, and pro-hormones to testosterone are also candidates for cortisol control.

We are flooded with cortisol suppression products on TV for a reason. People are relying on stimulants to get through the day and paying the price. Do these products work? You be the judge. I believe prevention is the best approach. Obviously this is a very quick read and not in-depth. There are pharmaceutical (Like Cytadren) cortisol blockers but are very harsh on the joints. Tren is a very powerful cortisol blocker however off cycle cortisol control makes for greater permanent gains. Obviously testosterone and synthetic anabolic counter the muscle wasting effects of cortisol. Too much coffee may exacerbate your work stress. I love coffee but limit myself to a cup a day.

Remember this is just one piece of the muscle building puzzle. If your concerned or just curious on just how much cortisol is impacting your life contact your physician and get a simple blood test. Again this is a very short read with simple points and does not cover the subject in-depth. The intention is to provide simple information and provide and/or shed light on one part of our biology that plays a role on the achievement of greater athletic goals.

So relax. Sleep well. Eat well.

good read bro, clen doesnt raise cortisol does it? I figured since it can be slightly anabolic that it wouldnt fall into the category i could be wrong though.

I don't believe clen raises cortisol since it has been shown to have a slightly anabolic effect. Is there any reference out there to back this?
