The last three leg workouts my left knee was swolen and numb for two or three days after. Yesterday I used knee wraps, but it didn't help much. What should I do?
Not much pain? I would get with an orthopedist asap so you dont end up tearing something up if you havent already. Could be you just tweaked it a little and it just agravates it and your knee just swells. Could be some torn cartilage in there, either way i would see a doc. Be sure to Ice post workout if you continue to hit it heavy.
I had aggervated my knee about a month ago from heavy leg press, so I laid off the leg press for a while and slowly worked up heavy again on it. For some reason I think the leg press puts your knee at a bad angle, and could be bad when doing heavy. Did you hurt it on a certian exercise?
agreed with the other guys completely, hit up your local ortho. If you can remember what you were doing when it started to swell or hurt you can avoid doing that again. The numbness is most likely from coming from the area right behind your knee. This is called the popliteal space and every major nerve (aside from the cutaneous ones) that runs down your leg goes through this little space. So if you got it injured it and inflammed it could easilyi be the the inflammation effect on those nerves that is causing your numbness. That's why they numbness goes away after a couple of days - when the inflammation goes down. This is also the reason that the knee braces didn't work extremely well probably. If the problem is causing some issue with this area...knee braces won't affect it to much b/c they only stability the knee.
