the Pro Physique (What It Takes)
Got this off a different board...thought it was interesting
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While some say "it's all drugs" and others say "drugs are only the finishing touch"; one thing I learned in life is that whenever there is truth to two extremes, the answer is usually somewhere in the middle.
I know I might offend some people; but this is truly conjecture. My thoughts on what it takes to achieve a pro level physique and/or be successful as a pro:
*A high growth potential before ever training (mesomorph). Perhaps a decent structure, but less important in modern day bodybuilding.
*As Nasser said, "you must have the constitution of a race horse". A tolerance for all things physical: brutal training, dieting, and yes, drugs.
*The mental fortitude to withstand hard training sessions, perhaps with the assistance of prescription pain killers.
*Management of injuries (major and minor)
*Dealing with being hungry all the time. For one, you may miss more than a placing by not having striated glutes. And if you're a pro who guess poses a lot, then you have to stay in decent shape throughout much of the year.
*The willingness, access, and instruction for using high doses of many potent drugs. Also, a good connection for receiving legit, high quality drugs on a consistent basis. And money! You either have a good contract, deal drugs yourself, or sell yourself for drug money.
*Site enhancement (especially at top 6)
*Gynecomastia surgery at some point(s) in your life
*Being very careful with diuretics (oxymoron?) - at least not dying
*Being very organized (type A personality). I notice in most pro videos their houses/kitches are very clean. I don't know if it's just because they're being filmed, but you have to be organized to deal with so many dosages, meal planning, and doing the business of bodybuilding. Or they're just crazy.
I can't think of any more right now but perhaps you'd like to add some...
