Well guys I live in a fairly small town and the only place to go here for most people is the ymca and it fucking sucks. I havent been there in like 8 or 9 years, I bought all of my own equipment and did all my lifting at home, went thru shoulder surgery and sold everything. Now I have bought more equipment and put it here in my Auto shop. I've been thinking tho and have had alot of friends ask me why I just don't open a gym. I have 6 acres here and have more than enough room. Im thinking of doing just a like a 40ft x 50ft building and just put in a hard core gym, no bullshit elipticals and stuff like that, just straight iron for the hard core junking around here. I have plenty of room out back for tire flipping, sled dragging, and any other things we can carry around. I used to lift in a rat hole down town and we used the chains and bands, but at the Y they wouldn't allow any of that there. So with saying this what do you guys think? I think I can charge $25 a person a month and should have 30 members right off the bat. Heres some pics of my shop and I would be building the gym off to the side and some pics of some of the equipment I have. I will have about $50,000 to put in the building and other equipment.

I would be building the gym off the left side of my shop where you see those carports at. Yes I know I don't have alot of equipment but that shouldnt be a problem getting.

Fuck yeah bro! Go for it!!!!!!!!!

Im dead serious when I say I would go workout in a place like that, especially when there isnt another good option! And with crossfit getting big and strongman and powerlifting already being big, i think your space for tire flipping, sleds ect would be great!

I really think you could do it brutha! Even if your just making $500-$600 a month in gym fees, its still something and you NEVER KNOW WHERE IT WILL TAKE YOU! It might very well lead to you expanding and one day becoming a big time gym and then doing very very well!

So yeah I would go for it bro! I wish you lived close to me in Jersey cause I would be there every day brutha! no BS

Hell even if you just made an extra $200-$300 at first whey not, !! Sorry but im sitting here thinking about it and bro you could have a little freezer with shakes and sell some choice supplements, ect, hell fucking yeah its a great idea!

Yeah I was thinking of putting in a machine where I could sell shakes and such out of it. Being that it will be beside my business I could monitor it fairly easy. Also if the gym falls thru I could just rent the building out for something else. I've talked to my pops about it and he said go for it too, we own the 3 of the next 3 buildings down from my shop so it would just be another good addition. He actually has 2 bays behind his rental building about 100 yards from my shop he said I could put everything in those two bays and see how it went with getting members to join and if it all goes well build the gym beside my place.

YEAH MAN THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN!

As for the machines, a lot of companies will give the machine for free so long as you have it filled with their products, but i wouldnt even do that, i would just get my own little freezer or glass cooler and fill it with my own products that I know work and have good margins!

My buddy opened up a nice little gym about 8 years ago, and he made it so people could just swipe their card to get in and workout, so it was 24 hours, and that is what helped his gym become successful !! People like to workout when they can, so fi thats an option then that would be cool to

Yeah I would def do the card swipe on the door, the little hole in the wall I used to lift at had keys made and it got outta hand with everyone copying keys and just anybody could come in.

If your gona stick it on property that you already have that saves a ton, plus you wont have to pay any extra rent for the land.

It's kind of like doubling up your business in the same space and you get to enjoy it yourself.

Not only do I think it's a good idea but I would seriously go train there too. I train in a gym not much different except for the size and there's a little more equipment but hard care as fuck. Looks like metro flex

That sounds great. Keep overhead low and pick one member with potential and invest in him an hopefully get a recognized name through there.
