I can't stand how the media make every athlete's death or suicide a result of steroid use. I really get sick of it...

Drugs and steroids may have impaired the judgment of rugby star Terry Newton when he hanged himself, an inquest has heard.

Forensic toxicologist Julie Evans said Newton's longterm abuse of steroids and cocaine may have left him paranoid and delusional.

A coroner ruled she could not be certain the ex-Great Britain international was intent on suicide, and recorded an open verdict.

Former Wigan, Leeds and Bradford star Newton, 31, was found hanged in his loft by police in September.

He had been sacked by his team, Wakefield, in February after being suspended for two years for using human growth hormones.

The rugby league player, a father of two, had since taken over a pub and wanted to warn players of the dangers of drugs in sport.

His wife Stacey had told a friend she was concerned about him.
He left notes around their house in Wigan, Lancs, expressing a desire to die.

Speaking at Bolton coroner's court, where Mrs Newton was absent, coroner Jennifer Leeming said: "He had hoped to work with the Rugby Football League to warn sportsmen of the dangers of drugs and in his death is the biggest warning to others."

I can't stand that either. "Steroids and cocaine," yet it must have been the steroids, eh? Absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, my son is huge into wrestling right now and I've shown him a bunch of videos of the wrestlers I grew up watching, but now so many of them are dead. And, these stupid sites like Wikipedia list most of their deaths as being due to steroids. Nevermind all the other drugs they were into, it's always steroids that killed them. And of course the big one was Chris Benoit.

The worst thing is Lyle Alzado. This dumb shit died from brain cancer, but had said that steroids were the cause of him getting sick. The doctor then comes in and says that steriods were not the cause. But all you hear about is him saying steroids were the cause and not the part about the doctor saying it wasn't. This is a perfect case of how the media wants to bash steroids. There's never been a long term study of any harmful effects of steroid USE...Obviously, we can all see a difference between USE and ABUSE, but that's a different story.

Someone can smoke a cigarette a day and be good, but smoking 2 packs a day is harmful, most people can understand that, but can't understand using steroids and abusing steroids...It just really pisses me off, I get so tired of hearing it
