Love my old gym - been there for probably 10 years and am good friends
with the owner. He is getting burnt out and started to cut his hours.
Sat is now close @ 2pm. I was there at 1pm last sat. and it was locked
up. He said it was quiet so he closed earley. I am VERY busy with my
kids ect.. so when I can sneak a workout in I do. But this is screwing
me up. Not the first time this has happened. He blew me off - said it was no big deal. I just got a free pass for a week at a alright gym but it is a little farther drive. I think a change will be good for me for awhile. I was going
to ask for opinions but I think I just answered my question.

talk to him about it...if you know the guy he may be willing to give you a key to the gym. If not, and you can't get in to the gym I would say you have to choice but to switch.

Do you have the space and $ for your own home gym? I made the the commitment about four years ago and never looked back. Its only 16'X 16', but its stocked with all the equipment I need. One of the best investments I ever made. Got a few training partners and we have a hell of a good time here.

I'm jealous! I want to build my own one day, but that is far in the future. No space, no money, still in college, ugh.

One day though, I am definitly going to do that. I hate waiting for some idiot to finish hurting himself on the next station I want to get on. :arcade:

Not me, I always will workout at a gym...there is nothing like the motivation and intensity of a workout in a good full gym with alot of other people around. I can't stand working out at home, never have the same drive.

I go through the same issue with my gym, it closes early and the hours aren't the greatest. I suck it up and deal with it because it's a good heavy lifting gym, compared to the "Bally" types in the rest of my area.

I'd try to get a key also...alot of gym owners are understanding, and figure if you can workout a few days with motivation and a few days alone with the key you should be good to go :)

Yeah, there is definitely a special energy in a commercial gym, but I think if you have good reliable training partners willing to come to your house, then its even better. I don't have to wait for the idiot doing barbell curls in the squat rack, and the spandex clad tool with ILS (imaginary lat syndrome) isn't going to come over and "help" me with some "pointers" and "correct" my "horrible" training methods. Likewise, the snotnose 20yr. old gym manager is not going to ask me to stop deadlifting because the chalk is making a mess, and the noise is frightening the other members. And last but not least, I can grunt, swear, and sing along to my favorite Manson songs at earsplitting decibels, without fear from the morality police. And when I am done, I turn off the lights, go upstairs, turn on the TV, kick back on the sofa, and stuff my face for the next few hours. What could better than that?:D

I have all I need in my garage but what do I use to hang my clothes on. I need to
get out and GO to a gym. I was saying my guy not only cut his hours (I can deal
with that) but if its slow he just closes up. He dosest give out keys anymore. Hit
the other gym twice already. Not as well equiped but everything I need. It feels good
to be in a new envirorment. Think I'll join for a month then just take it month to
month.
