Game tonight in my regular men's league. Great game! I played well: scored once; got an assist; numerous shots; made some good plays and defended well against one of the best players in the league. I'm very happy about that. This guy usually beats me almost every time. Tonight, it was the other way around. I'm definitely getting better at the things I've been working on and discussing with my coach. It's taken a while to put all the pieces together, but tonight was a very obvious improvement! That's exciting.

Kicking ass!

I got very disappointing news today: the "pro development camp" I was planning to attend has been canceled. I got a very brief email from the team including a refund of my registration fee. I am extremely bummed out. Last year, the coach expressed pretty strong interest when I said I'd like to fill in whenever they're shorthanded. I ended up needing surgery, ending any chance of getting to play. I was VERY MUCH looking forward to seeing the coach again and showing what I can do. I'm in better shape and faster than I was last year and more skilled. I would have made an excellent showing!

Some of y'all wanted some food pictures. Here's one from dinner this evening. Pulled pork, roasted potatoes and peas. 1177 kcal; 96g protein; 38g carbs; 66g fat.

I should have some hockey pix pretty soon. I asked a guy who comes to watch if he could take some action shots and he readily obliged. Hopefully he sends them to me tomorrow. I'll share a few when I get them.
Sorry about the camp being canceled. @EMW14 but I'm a big believer in fate. You never know. You could have gone to it and then got yourself injured or something could have happened.

@EMW14 good job scoring a goal. That's gotta be the best dopamine rush ever.

Nice meal you put together. Looks like a nice little stew. That's a really good one. I think I'm going to take a page from that and try to copy it, especially when it starts getting cold. @EMW14

Back & shoulders training today. Same brief routine I've been in, or similar, at least.

Pull ups:
3 x 10

Lat pulldowns:
215lbs: 3x10

Barbell rows:
135: 1x10
155: 1x10
175: 1x6 My low back is a constant issue. I've either avoided barbell rows or only done light weight because of it. It's not debilitating, but it's sore most of the time. I managed the above sets today but I'm definitely weaker in this exercise because of what I described above.

Shoulders:
Lateral db flies:
12lb: 1x20
15lb: 1x20

Arnie presses:
Drop set:
15: 1x5; 12: 1x5
My left rotator cuff is always the limiter on these. I am getting stronger on them, but slowly. Have to keep at it.
10: 1x10

Abs/hip flexors:
In & out:
1x15

Bicycles:
1x15

Treadmill:
Incline set to 10%
2.5mph warmup walk: 2:23
6mph run: 1 full minute. Heart rate 137 at the end of this.
2mph recovery walk: 4 minutes. HR down to 112
10mph run: 57 seconds! Almost 1 full minute at 10mph!! I'm very excited about this!

I had a half decent run of sleeping better than usual, but that's over. The past week has been typically awful: I wake up every hour for the first 3 or 4 hours; then every two hours for a couple of cycles. Consequently I'm extremely tired. Forced myself to do a chest workout today. I tried a slightly different approach to bench press. Usually I Pyramid up and back down again in 20lb increments. Heaviest in recent times has been 265. Last time, I struggled to get one rep (I was similarly tired). The previous workout I got 3. Today, I decided to go up 40lbs from 225 to 265 and see how many reps I could get at 265. Unfortunately only 2:

Warmup: the usual routine with PVC pipe stretching, PVC pipe bench press, empty bar, shoulder warmup, etc. Then:

135: 1x10
185: 1x10 also warmup sets.

225: 1x5 - save a little energy by keeping it to 5 reps.

265: 1x2 I MAYBE could have got 3 but didn't want to risk it since I'm by myself.
245: 1x2 The 265 reps spent all my energy
225: 1x3 Totally spent. Normally, I'd do something lighter that I could rep a little bit but I just don't have the energy today.

Incline Db press:
60lbs: 2x5; 1x3 I didn't rest very long between the last 2 sets of these. I've had a leisurely workout and am fast running out of time.

Gonna do a little treadmill session. We'll see if I can muster up a 10mph sprint or not.

I did manage a 10mph sprint for a full minute.

TM incline set at 10%

2:00 2.5 mph warmup walk.
1:00 6mph run
3:00 2.5mph walk
1:00 10mph sprint
5:00 2mph walk

Little bit of stretching and DONE. Dinner time...
