Been waychin a lot of ufc lately any ideas on how their regeme would look like like sets, reps exercises???

Ufc as in ultimate fighting? If so. I would guess they do more plyometrics and explosive movements than just weights. They have to be quick and explosive athletes, as opposed to just training for size and strength.

Yea I agree with Dreww, I watched the reality show where lidell and courture coached teams and there training consisted of alot of actually fighting. Not saying they don't lift or anything.

They way they weight train is completley different than how a bodybuilder would train. I'd suggest you search around the net for some more info. I don't know how many Cage fighters we have here at MC ;)

If you find some cool exercises post them up in this thread so we can check them out though! I'm always up for new training techniques.

I saw one exercise where they carried a 45 pound plate, squated down and then waddled around to simulate holding someone else and pushing them or something. I imagine a lot of their exercises are focused on actual "In The Cage" situations.

Those guys arent looking for size... They are looking to last till the last minute while taking some major punishment... Assloads of cardio and alot of bag hitting...
Jump ropes, medecine balls, tredmills, and light lifting... Mostly Man to Man sparring..
Completley different routine....

I agree also. I'm sure a great deal of their training is fight training, but everyone's got to lift. Probably no mass building, flexability is key when taken to thye mat and most fights end up there street or UFC.

we lift the same as you do......we just add so much other shit we dont really get big......then again we are more interested in strength/endurance than size

can you elaborate bud..if you could hit me with a PM about your method of trainin etc, cardio, weights, diet.thanks

well im a boxer(pro).....and an amateur nhb fighter

im 35 years old

we lift 3-4 times a week...........basic like chest day may consist of bench for 3 sets pyramid and dips or incline dumbell sets a few times then tris..........we squat once a week but at least 3 times a week we do hindus upwards of a few hundred reps a workout.....and bodyweight lunges too....bak rows, chins, curls

our BIG difference is bagwork/sparring/rolling and cardio.......i do roadwork yeah(hate it) but i also do sick ass cardio too more equiped to condition lungs than burn fat..........say you are training for a 4 rounder.......thats 4 3min rounds + i minute breaks........so we go for 15min on treadmill........mind u i might be dead tired from 4 rounds of punch shield/sparring and bag work and road work too......i may have had aa rest and a shake or maybe a few hours went by and had dinner or something

anyways i set the treadmill on the highest incline and set the pace pretty damn fast(use manual control).............i run a min 3 minutues till my fat ass is huffing and puffing..........if i caan run longer i do.........then when it gets to be too much for me i lower the incline aa little..........if that gets too much for me a drop the speed a little......then i do it some more......sometimes after about 10 minutes i feel stronger again and dont want to waste it so up the speed/incline again..........after 15 minutes i may or may warm down

now heres the fucked up part.....do this while wearing a mouthpiece.......you wont believe how much harder this is with one in....especially after about 6-7 minutes..........but you have to learn to breath with one and no one can teach you, your body ha to teach itself.......this i belive should be the CORNERSTONE to fight training (mouthpiece heavy cardio) because you wont last a minute without it

oh....and before a fight......maybe a week and a half before.....i believe in being good to myself.......i back off the heavy weights and dont lift at least 5 days prior.........stick with light cardio and sparring......maybe ill do some hill sprints a few days before immediately followed by a shake/nap........and ill maybe throw in some swimming......not so much for excersise purposes but for relaxatoion purposes(smimming laps makes me sleep like a baby)

mind you im heavyweight so i dont have to worry about making weight..........some peeps have different regimens but its all basically the same

UFC fighters train very similar to wrestlers and other grapplers. The weight control methods used and the floor exercises (push-ups, sit ups, pull ups etc.) This is mainly because its just convenient...when training to pop out a few reps of each. Most fighters and grapplers will train with weights later on in the day or at night...but not during their "sparring" or "grappling" sessions....running and other cardio regimes are done, but not as much as you would think.....the best way to get in wrestling, grappling and boxing shape is to box, wrestle and scrap....simply put.
