Using a skillet hotplate?

No flame. Its. A hotplate not a bunson burner .. yes constant heat if u have enough power gong threw it. I use a converter to have constant top power to feed my plate.

I just use a thick bottom pan on a gas burner with a thermometer. Don't brew large so this works for me. Hell I still use a whatman 2.2 filter and a silicone gun. A couple of hours once a year that's me done with more than enough hormones. Never once had an issue.

Some of us are old school and like how we do it. I am one of those guys and a little tech added in here and there. I think either way you do it, just be clean and watch out for contaminants.
