So yes I play golf, I know im gonna get bashed for that one. Anyway, putting on 25lbs of muscle in say 4 months during the winter has shot my golf game to shit. I def need to do more strecthing. Anyone have any tips on what are some good exercises do good strecthing? Also how many of you have this problem with putting on muscle affecting other sports?

I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY GOLF! I JUST CANT DRIVE WELL!

I use to have this problem as I use to play a lot of pickup basketball at the parks and it would take some time to get stretched enough to shoot well,lol, and if i played right after the gym, forget about it,lol, but yeah i know what you mean for sure, and i just try to stretch it out and get limber, im sure it cant be much different for golfing
 
I played golf just about every weekend a few years ago. I really had to take the time to warm up and stretch out. Make sure to get plenty of swings in before you had start your round. I would start swinging with shorter clubs (wedge) to keep the swing short to start then go to a medium iron until eventually got to driver to let it rip. I really had problems with my chest cramping up if I didnt do this...not cool to get a chest cramp in the middle of swing.

I play golf and I think my muscle has helped me, however, I developed my form after getting big so that might have something to do with it. I used to play baseball as well and most pitching coaches say to never try to add muscle. I think that is bs because I can still throw over 90 mph LOL. And for the record, when I threw 90 in the past I was ped free LOL.
 
I play hockey, well I used to. In the beginning the added weight helped, but the as the weight kept going up it became a negative, so much so that I stopped playing. I'm 41 so it was probably time to hang them up anyway. Don't really miss being as fuk for 3 days after playing either so it was an all round good idea to stop! lol
 
I play golf....well I go out and hit golf balls with golf clubs, and sometimes I've been known to throw the clubs...I'm a little competitive....haha

Anyway I had this problem, I put in 30 pounds in a couple months training for powerlifting a couple years ago, my game went to shit worse than it already was. Since my job is performance training and therapy I knew I should know what the fuck my problem was. So I thought it was my back and hips that were the problem...did some research and talked to some people, turns out the problem is typically the shoulders that need to be loosened up. Work on getting your scapulas "unglued" and where your pec inserts into the shoulders. A lacrosse ball is the perfect tool. Great video here:

I've noticed I can no longer scratch my own back. I also shower after I take a shit. Just sayin...
 
Two months ago reaching across my body to put my seat belt on sucked. Little easier now after starting to lean out.
 
I hate not being able to wash the back of my neck, it used to be after doing biceps but putting on 30lbs has stopped it all together, lol
