What do think pros make a year or how thay have made over the span of their careers, like ronnie, jay, branch.

well they definitely make much more in endorsements and appearances than contest winnings......after viewing the interview on bb.com of jay at his vegas house i'd estimate maybe 500k-1m a year over the last 5 years......hopefully these guys are smart about investing and putting money away since they can't do this forever......then again maybe that's why ronnie is attempting his comeback....maybe the potential earnings for the next year or so are pulling him back in?

Top 5 maybe make some money. The rest.... after drugs, food, etc, aren't making ends meet. That's including the guys with supposed 100K endorsement contracts. A lot of them have to sell drugs and basically steal from friends to make it.

so basically.. unless you are the fucking best.. Bodybuilding is nothing more than an addiction hobby... not a career.. and if you make it career.. you are destined for failure.. is that what you are saying??

I had all these hopes and dreams... that I was going to make it big.. because i have the genetics/drive/and determination.. and because I WANTED IT !! Soooo Bad.. but, after reading this.. and half of everything else that I have read.. there is NO MONEY in bodybuilding. You can't live off the endorsements and appearances and winnings.. unless you have a great face, and HOLLYWOOD adopts you as a BIG VIOLENT MAN (Arnold Schwarzenegger) or even GUNTER has been in a MOVIE...

But...

I wanted to be able to say I won an ARNOLD CLASSIC in My Life... maybe even be on the OLYMPIA STAGE..

Maybe get ... maybe get sponsored by a BIG NAME Supplement company.. *BSN, GASPARI,or DYMATIZE* --- not MUSCLETECH.. I vowed no matter HOW BIG I made it.. I would never fall victim to THEM

So now, it's become a personal quest... to just get as big as I can Humanly get and be an Underground monster that... loves lifting.. LIVES FOR IT !!

But.. also will work 2 jobs just so I can do it.. I Don't care.. because ONE DAY I swore I would make something of myself.. walk out of my HOME and Hop onto my Chopper and rip it to work... do my job head home.. jump in my comfortable Luxury Sedan and slap on the A/C and head to the GYM and hammer out my workout for the day..

I VOWED TO NOT BE WHITE TRAILER TRASH LIKE MY PARENTS... but now it seems unless I just go ahead and give up on my bodybuilding dream and turn back to the only MONEY MAKER left... MIXED MARTIAL ARTS Fighting...

It's one thing I was always good at... BEATING THE EVER LIVING SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE..

So... yah I'll still get to lift.. and for smaller venue non-drug tested shows I'd be able do my extra-curricular activities.. ahhhhhhhhhh

WtF am I going to do NOW?!?!

I am going to have to totally re-think MY WHOLE LIFE now.. I thought I had it all figured out.. I really did...

Now, I am more lost than I have ever been....

Its a sacrifice for sure. It all boils down to priorities I guess. If your priority is to be the best you have to make the greatest sacrifice and that may mean just making ends meet as someone else said.

Sorry to crush your hopes, but I know quite a few well known guys. One of them is a nice guy and has a 100K contract with a well known company. He's in the hole 30K to different mutual friends and has been evicted 3 times in the last 6 years. The top Olympia guys do alright, but we're talking 5.

yep the dude is right, their isnt any extravagant lifestyle with money trees just because you turn pro, I know quite a few Pro bodybuilders and most of them have to work a normal job and some of them when they were younger even though they were still pros sold drugs and not steroids, but hardcore drugs like ecstacy and coke, My one friend who did time was ratted out and titus name was all over everyones conviction cause he was a no good rat and he too sold drugs to get what he wanted

actualy their are quite a few big name pros right now who sold hardcore drugs when they were younger pros and some did time and others just ratted out the smaller guys. they would get raided on Friday night and be at the gym Monday afternoon like nothing happened, so u tell me.

Aside from the selling drugs shit that alot of the pros do and back to the main topic, yes their is NO money unless ur a top teir guy.

Your best bet is to use your pro status and learn how to use the fact that people are naturaly drawn to you as a pro and use it to start a decent business, beit personal training, supplement line, ect

Honest to GOD I was just talking to my wife maybe last week about how theirs no money in this sport for the pros, and its sad because i knwo for a fact that the federations and supp companys could easily pay the Mr Olympia or Arnold Winner atleast 2-3 million and the guys who place 3rd 4th and 5th could easily be payed hundreds of thousands for say 3rd and maybe 100k$ for 5th place

Thats the way it should be if the supplement companies would start kicking some serious cash into the shows for the winners, and this way the guys placing 4th and 5th and also just out of placing could actualy make a decent living and would feel as though they had to break the law to earn their money which way too many are doing, cause they cant go get a nine to five job and think they can place better the next year, so they decide to selld drugs

anyways the supplement companys need to start kicking up more money for the winners, its fucking bullshit how some athletes get paid 100 million dollars over 6 years and the top bodybuilders barely scrape by, its sad and pathetic and the Supplement companys should be ashamed of themselves and if they think that you and I dont realize that they are nothing more then Pharmaceutical Pimps using the names and faces of bodybuilders to make the billions a year industry go around then they are out of their fucking minds!

I know they (bbers) tryed starting a union years and years ago but im not even sure what came of that either

Its true unless your a top pro and have another business going on there isnt much to be made

I look at these guys competing at the nationals for 10 years in a row i cant imagine how much money they have put in with no return
Its a shame this sport is like this
