i like the soreness from barbell shrug, but they always hurt my nuts doing them
when you do barbell shrugs in the front, you dont rest your balls on the bar. DUHHHH!! LOL
And Wess, not to sure if your traps have grown. Those things between your sholders and neck are in the way. lol
I think you always had big traps. (im going to try it your way though)
The bar stays close to my body and unfortunately every rep grazes them...
I love dumbbell shrugs because I feel like I get the best range of motion from them. I prefer doing seated dumbbell shrugs to go a little further. And if you've never tried them, I do shrugs on the low pulley cable row machine. You simply sit like you'd get ready to do a cable row instead you simply pull your shoulder blades together. Those actually developed my traps into something they'd never been
I use 45lb plates with handles, and sometimes a camber bar with 135lbs..
I go super light, 90-135lbs for high reps, slow and controlled and lean slightly forward on all reps...squeeze as hard as I can and pull my traps as high as I can, and hold for 5 seconds, breathe out..lower the weight while stretching..
I do them 2-3x per week..
For me I have found they are like calves, the more often I hit them and lower weight and more controlled, the more size I gain..I put on well over 2" doing them light like this.
