Why this Lifestyle?

My father had me lifting when I was 8 or so; I was an athlete through high school and then lifted socially in college. I competed in benchpressing my whole life, with the exception of college. I started again 5-6 years ago and had a great time with it. In the mean time I went to my first bb show-WOW! Now I get to go to my adult playground almost every day and my body and my mind crave it. I've gone from ~170lbs and who knows how much fat to 135 with some cuts in my legs in the last 5 months; its amazing to sit back and watch the transformation (special thanks to Randy for all of his help!). My strength hasn't dropped a bit- I did my first pullup not too long ago-a brighter high than I would get in college. I go back to show the iron who's boss ;-)...and Monday I did 4 pullups in a row!

I was always skinny in highschool, luckily I could out run the big in football

I was only 146 lbs @ 6'1" when I graduated.

now 30 yrs old still 6'1" and 195, the bad part is I'm about 15-16% bf (down from 24% this past january)

I saw Arnold's bicep in "Predator" when I was like 10 or 11, along with Hulk Hogan in the WWF (when I bought his Hulkamania weight set...5 lb DBs and a jump rope LOL :D) and it's been like an addiction ever since. I bought the whole cybergenics program when I was 13 and Hot Stuff at GNC, thinking I'd get huge.

I really started educating myself at 17 when I went to college, gained the "freshman 15" and looked like shit. I saw some pics from a trip I took to the French Riviera in 96 after my freshman year and was like, damn, I have to dedicate myself to looking good again. That's when I went full force and started really bodybuilding...training right, good diet, rest, supps. I trained hard for the next 5 years straight and went from 170 with a gut to 200 with a 6 pack. I then started working 60 hour weeks and stopped for 1 1/2 years. I started back up and within a year, regained all that I had lost. Last fall (2002), I ran my first cycle and I am more dedicated than ever. I plan to do my first show in April.

Arnold and Hulk Hogan, pumpseeker....For me it was Lou Farigno in the Increadable Hulk tv show and Super Star Billy Grahm.

I think I may be a few years older than you.:D

super star billly grahm was enormous, he still is big, and im not even 20 yet and i know of that enormous ducher

i got into lifting first as a powerlifter when i was 14 becuse the football coaches made us, we had no fucking choice it was either powerlift or not play (i at the time loved football and had been playing since the age of 5 so). So i went on powerlifting untill one day is the summer after my 18th birthday, i broke my spine in several places squating 505. It wasn't just that squat it turns out i had been pounding several herneations and fracterus out the past couple of years, you don't know till it duesches you. But after 8 months of rehab, i really am back into training for strength, not necassarily for powerlifting, becuse im my opinion it just really donsn't have to much of a point accept bragging rights, but whos bragging when you can't walk?......... so now i train for what i love to do wich is box. I strenth train for boxing and i really enjoy that part of my life it gives me somewhere to vent, during all these damn college exams.

good thred ded prez,

I do it because it feels damn good to wear any clothes I want and look good! Including that sexy little vampire costume on Halloween . . .

LOL.....think there's quite a few of us "older" guys here. Hell I just got out of High School when Arnolds 1st Conan movie came out! And yes Saturn I watched Lou as the Hulk religiously!

"Did it to get girls but that was years ago. I do it now for me. None of my friends workout and tease me and such, but someone has the be the swole guy in the group so it might as well be me."

well, you got me!

My dad got me a membership to a hardcore gym for my 15th birthday. All I ever wanted was to be just like Arnold. That was in Jan of 1982. And I still want to be just like Arnold!

I was very skinny and an aerobic's instructor. I was sick of the anorexic look. At 5'7. 120 ~ not good lol ~

I saw a pick of Penny Price, I had no idea who she was and loved her muscle.

Anyway, I picked up a book, learned how to train and I won the Florida Title about 10 years later at 5'7 155 lbs ripped.

I wanted to go to the Nationals, but I have epilepsy...so I missed out and have to requalify ~ Nevertheless, I love muscle and hope to never be skinny again LOL

I started Training when I was about 16. The main reason for me was my interest in firefighting. It's what I've always wanted to do as a career and nothing is ever going change that. So being able to push huge weights is going to be nothing but an advantage to myself and the department I eventually land a job at. The second reason would have to be getting those stares at the gym. Anyone that has pushed some impressive weights would agree with me. There is nothing like being respected in your gym, being talked about when you walk in, when you notice serveral people looking at you in the mirrors in aw of your strength and size. To me that's pretty fuckin awesome.
