Does anybody else have to work out in the heat? Yesterday the heat index was 104 degrees and their was not a shade tree in sight, not to mention been sitting on my ass with the bad tricep the last 3 months. Eating in this heat has always been a bit of an issue but it seems worse now. I workout in the morning so I still get those most important meals in no problem, but from about 11 am on pretty tough to eat. If anyone has ideas or maybe a recipe or to of a high protein meals that will go down in the heat would be appreciated.

I sit in the office all day but i use to work in the heat framing houses and it sucked, and worse yet i did roofing, you wanna talk about hot, lol, try being on a roof laying a " hot roof" in the summer , lmao, your jeans would literally start falling off your hips by mid afternoon due to losing so much water weight combined with jeans being soaking wet lol,

I fee for you brutha, and yes i would have to drink a shit load of protien shakes, already made shakes is the only way to do it when your in the heat working all day in my humble opinion

That's what I have done in the past just know food is better. I was in an attic 2nd day back running new gas lines thought I was going to die lmao.

lol, yeah man i dont envy you right now! but ya got to do what you gotta do to feed the familia! Sometimes I miss working outside, usually around spring, but summer, no fucking way brutha!

we also use to start work on the job sites at 6am, so we could cut out by 2pm so we could get out of the heat as fast as possible

Yeah I used to start early like that but it seemed like the boss just found something else for us to do so we just wound up working more.

Hey brother, you know I am in the heat all day. Well at least when I'm on the surface. My plan has always been to preload on food in the am. I know you already do that. I usually eat my bigger work day meal at around 10 before my guts start to boil. I have found that jerkeyis a pretty good filler and not too heavy on a work day. Trail mix is good if you can get one without all the sugar. I have also been taking protein shakes in the cooler. They are pretty dense so I just drink half at a time. But you are absolutely right, it is hard to eat in the heat.... I love fish, so you could make some ceviche. I have done that in the past, it's cool and full of good stuff. I will post how I make it if anyone is curious.

It is interesting to note that the inability to eat or loss of appetite is related to the effect the heat has on the hypothalamus, IIRC.

One 3oz tilapia fillet.
One cup fresh Pico de Gallo (more if you want)
Salt, pepper, crushed red pepper to taste.
2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive oil
2 lemons and limes fresh squeeze.

Cut uncooked fish of your choice into strips or cubes.
Place with other ingredients in airtight container in the fridge overnight.

Keep cool and enjoy as is, or with tortilla.

The acid in the fruit cooks the fish.

It is bad ass. I love it.
You should get 26g of protein and 240g calories(+ -)

Great recipe

You know where I'm at and some days I'm out there all day long also. I snack on jerkey and dehydrated fruits for the most part and suck down shakes.

This sounds really good. Never heard of acid in fruit doing the cooking... that's interesting.

Yea EMW14, the fish will firm up overnight. Depending on the type of fish you use, it can come out as firm as chicken. I used Pompano the last time i made it. I pulled it straight out of the Gulf of Mexico. If anyone likes fish and Spanish/Caribbean style food, this is for you. BTW I only use the olive oil for the calories. i like it better with ought it.
