New growth push

Chest day! Best chest workout yet! I finally got all 5 sets of bench press with 285. It's only been 6 days since my last chest workout, whichbwas bench only. Today, I rested exactly 5 minutes between sets, except the last rest period, which I extended by maybe 30 seconds. Wanted to make sure I had enough to get all 5 reps! I'm sure the 600 mg per week test helped me out on this. Regardless, I'm thrilled. I was thinking that I may have to change up my workout on bench press, maybe switch to doubles to break the 285 plateau. But today I got it.

Bemch
285
5x5
Yee fuckin haw!

Imcline db press
85's
8; 6; 5

Decline db press
85
6; 5; 5

Threw in a little tricep training after:

Close grip bench:
135
6; 8; 7
Supersetted these with some lightweight hammer curls (25 lbs x 20 reps). When Ibwas regularly training tri's, I wouod do the close grip bench with 205! So fatigued after chest, 135 is all I could manage! Each set to failure.

Overhead EZ Curl nar tricep extensions
72 lbs (25's on the 22 lb bar)
7; 5; 6

That's it! Triceps pumped!

208 waking weight this morning.
Was curious what your warm up looked like before you jumped to 285.

I love training arms. It's the pump I get in them I like the most.
I do them like this lately.
Dips with feet on ground to warm up 2 sets.
Skull crushers with ez curl bar work weight up to 40 lbs per side at about 6 reps 5 sets.
After complete with crushers I start push downs with straight bar and I go heavy all weight loaded at most gyms. After each set I start biceps immediately after tricep set I go to alternating dumbell curls I do about 6 sets at 6 reps of each.
I then go to rope push downs with weight reduced doing 8 reps with ez bar preacher curls at about 6-8 reps about 5 sets each right after one another.
Triceps usually pretty hammered by this time. I start dumbell kick backs I little lighter around 8 reps. Biceps hammer curls or lying on mat cable rope curls.
4 sets 10 reps
Lastly I do standing single behind head cable curls. These give the finish good. Lol!

Next Friday I will give this routine a try sounds like it might be fun. When I was younger I think I trained arms to much and got burnt out on them and it's always more fun to train what you get complimented on and for me that has always been shoulders back and legs in that order. Not to brag but right now my shoulders are looking as good as ever and can see improvements from week to week. Honestly can't wait to see what they look like june.

Quite alright brother. That's the cool thing about following someone you could have put it under my trip to the zoo and I still would have got the info.

Know what u mean. I have big defined triceps with viens running across them. I like arms. Back is complemented bit I don't see it enough and have a dam cyst that turned from a zit a sebaceous cyst. Have to cut it off.
Chest doesn't look right unless under 10% in my opinion. Shoulders am cool with though. Legs aren't what they used to be. Lol! The arms workout is pretty good one though. If u keep the pace just right u won't be able to change your shirt after and holding steering wheel can be tough. Lol

It's funny: I used to really like training arms. I have long biceps that stand right up when flexed, so they tend to look bigger than they really are and I get compliments on them, always have.

For some reason lately, though, I just don't like training them!

Last year I trained them only occasionally and still managed to put an inch on my arms. And during this 5x5 routine I've been doing I haven't done any arm specific training at all. Just the last couple "push" workouts I've tossed in some triceps; and I'm doing a little bicep training now, too.

Thats Bodybuilding Blasphemy ! Building Biceps is Biblical! Damn man lol, Appreciate your confession though, just give me 3 Hail marry and 2 Our Fathers, and don't let it happen again

Sorry guys, or to anyone who might have tried replying to this thread, as it was somehow "closed" and brought to my attention by EMW14 who apparently thought I was serious enough in my last "Blasphemy" post to actually go and close his thread lmao, and I honest to GOD havent a fucking clue how this thread got closed, but its open now and maybe one of our site reps accidentally closed it , how that could happen I have no idea, but I will figure it out shortly!

For the record, after I finished laughing my ass off at the "blasphemy" accusation and tried to respond, I did NOT think Presser was serious - which I haven't seen happen all that often - just that there was some kind of mistake! LOL!

In any case, I promise to train arms - and specifically biceps - more regularly... Or at least SAY I did... LMAO!

im baffled by this closed thread happening man! Its not like its a one button click to do so, which means its not somehting that can accidentally happen, as its a two step process, so im wondering if somehting was accidentally changed in admin center to automatically close threads after the 109th reply per thread, how that might happen I also have no clue lmao, but I need to find out!

thnx man! and again my sincerest apologies

Decided to do a quick shoulder workout this morning in the company gym. I haven't done a shoulder specific workout since I started this 5x5 routine. Taking a page from Thudgen's book, I was in and out of the gym in 25 minutes. No longer than a minute rest between sets, usually less.

Standing military press (smith machine):
Warmup folllwed by 3 sets with 127
8; 7; 6
All sets to failure

lateral raises, cable:
50 lbs
3 x 20

Bent over reverse flies, cable
50 lbs
3x20

Flies done on the "functional trainer" station, which has a 4:1 ratio. So 50 lbs is really only equivalent to 12-1/2 lbs. That seems impossible, because I can do lateral raises with db's much heavier than that, so who knows? In any case, the last sets were to failure on both lateral and reverse raises.

My shoulders are so pumped, I can hardly raise my arms over my head! Awesome workout! Took a while to catch my breath after that.

I was 211 on the scale this morning! I must be holding a fair amount of water, because there's no way I gained 3 lbs of real weight since yesterday. Nevertheless, I am making gains after being stalled at 203-205 for quite a while. I'm thinking that throwing some shoulder - and arm, after nearly being excommunicated yesterday for confessing to not training arms much..... LOL! - will stimulate a growth spurt in shoulders and arms after not training them specifically for a while.

I do this alot cause I go for lunch break alot. 25 minutes I do heavy main exercise and the rest is like a circuit almost. Supersets and not much rest. It works cardio and I get a pump

Great workout brother little less rest really increases the pump. I can never do as much weight with cables as I can free weights. I figure it's the continuous pull.

The cardio effect was very good. Definitely had my heart rate up! Doing this first thing in the morning is invigorating, too. Got out of the habit of doing that, gonna try to keep it going.

Yeah, I think you're right about the constant temsion. My shoulders seem to respond very well to that.

I think it was Dean Destructo who remarked on here a while ago that shoulders generally respond well to constant tension and higher reps because they're mostly slow twitch muscle fibers. I can tell you that I always feel like I got a great shoulder workout when I train them at the work gym. And I always use cables when Ibdo, simply because of convenience. My dumbbells here are 100 lb adjustables; they're usually set up as 80 or 85 lbs, so stripping them down to 25 or 30 is a PITA. Real easy to slide the pin in the stack and grab the cable handle.

I do really good alternating between rest 2 minutes between sets going heavy to gain mass.
Then switching to less rest high tempo fatiguing muscles with not much rest supersets or back and forth like hit a set of shoulders then triceps or back them biceps.
I have found that I lose fat if I go long enough and pace it right. Get heart pumping and muscles at this stage after working out for so long never shrink. They can handle the high intensity and still growing if loading them enough.
I love the pump and fat burning.
Anytime more juice us evolved they grow and fat stays off!
