Tiffany Chapon (47KG) Sets All-Time Raw Bench Press World Record of 99.5 Kilograms in Title Defense at the 2023 IPF World Classic Championships

The 2023 IPF World Classic Championships in St. Julien, Malta, on June 11-18, 2023, saw a repeat at the top of the Women’s 47-kilogram division. France’s Tiffany Chapon entered the competition as the reigning world champion and left with her title in tact.En route to her gold-medal title defense, Chapon scored a new all-time world record raw bench press of 99.5 kilograms (219.4 pounds). This monumental lift eclipsed the previous all-time world record she scored at the 2022 IPF World Classic Championships by 3.5 kilograms. Chapon’s bench press was smooth from start to finish. If one was unaware that world record weight was loaded onto the barbell, they might not even realize that it had never before been successfully scored in sanctioned competition. Chapon’s performance overall was six for nine in attempts, scoring every first and second attempt while missing every third attempt. Her full stats are below:
According to Open Powerlifting, Chapon currently holds three of four all-time raw world records in the 47-kilogram class. In addition to her 99.5-kilogram bench press, Chapon maintains the all-time raw squat world record of 161 kilograms (354.9 pounds) and the all-time world record raw total of 428.5 kilograms (944.7 pounds).Chapon wasn’t the only lifter to score an all-time raw world record in the 47-kilogram class. USA’s Heather Connor scored a new all-time raw world record deadlift en route to an overall bronze-medal finish.
