If there could be only FIVE

Ladies and Gents,

If you could pic only 5 exercises to train the whole body, which ones would they be and why?...

I'd go with (1st 3 are easy):

Squats
Deads
Low inc. Bench
Weighted Chins
Leg Press calf presses

hmmm good question. I wish you had said 6 exercises..... BUT

for strength: Id stay with compound movements working as many muscle at one time as possible. low rep high weight. working the tendons.

Squat
Deadlift
flat bench
barbell curl
face breakers

for size: Id try to isolate the muscle as much as possible excluding legs, working the belly of the muscle more so than the tendon. ( getting a good pump)

squat
weighted chins
20 degree incline dumbell press
lateral dumbell raises
dumbell curls

I like the lists - all good.

Sweat - I know it. That 6th exercise would have been helpful.

Interesting that the choices are either dips vs. high incline presses. When I was away on break, I had to train in a hotel and had a friend (she weights about 150) sit on my shoulders to do some pushups. FELT AWESOME. Much different than a bench, in part b/c the weight was distributed over my palm. My hands were also angled out at about 45? (not parallel as they would be with a barbell or with palms facing in like on many dip stations).

I put in the calf presses b/c I need calf work.

Had to sacrifice on shoulders knowing that they'd get bombed with all the indirect work of the other lifts...
