Did you ever think that the magazine articles about training are truly a conspiracy to keep people down away from pro level? I mean they almost always talk high volume. I was just reading one in the last MD on arm training and it recommends 12 supersets.....that is 24 sets of arms between Bi's and Tri's! I'd loose a ton of size with that!
You very seldom read "in the magazines" about low volume high intensity stuff.....the stuff that really seems to work best for most people.
Thoughts? Opinions?

LMAO.

I highly doubt it is a conspiracy.....

But I thin that high volume does work for some pro's and that is why you see a lot of people stressing that method.

Great issue kidrock--when i started training I read alot of dumbass stuff from fle_ and md mags,so I'd workout 6 to 7 nights a wk--25 sets ea part--2 hr workouts etc etc...,and where is all the stuff on recovery issues?the fact that you grow OUTSIDE THE GYM etc.,--you NEVER see the truth when it comes to training for the aveage joe like me--LOW VOLUME high intenisty, etc.,all my knowledge(not much ha ha) really came from the boards like here---thank god-cause due to the training ideas you get from the mags I wasted a good yr and a half of workouts.-having said all that...I still like all the articles on everything else like the gear stuff and the sexual enhanchment updates etc.The truth is I,m addicted to the mds mags--I now cannot use the bathroom without one of them on my lap.

I should add that the conspiracy was probably started by Weider!! LOL

I have my subscriptions to Flex, MD, Muscle Mag....I used to love reading the training articles. Now, I just occasionally glance at them. Some are crazy as hell, I agree. What I do like to find is a pro's routine that has the same ideas as me on what works....it helps to confirm that certain technique is valid. At this point, I have a good idea of what works for me but it's nice to refresh my memory with certain techniques sometimes and I occasionally pick up something totally new.

I went to Shawn Ray's MuscleCamp last July and got to train with a bunch of pros. It was interesting to see how differently they all train from eachother yet they all seem to have their own formula for success that works. Different strokes for..... :)

*sarcastically*

they put articles in those magazines???

the first 150 pages are advertisements, i haven't bought one in several years

There is not one of those articles that is written by any of those pros that get the credit for that article.

If you don't believe me, read ANYTHING that is supposedly written by Ronnie Coleman. You know damned good and well that he does not have that type of vocabulary. They are written by the fat, out of shape, writers that know the bodybuilding world inside and out. You can go through almost any mag and get conflicting training articles about the same pro.

It is pathetic and a huge waste of money if you are looking for straight and accurate info about how a pro trains.

Just my opinion but........

hey skip, I was reading articles from back around 1982 until present about a training technique of the top pros from the day, I found 4 different articles/interviews , supposedly written by 4 diferent BBders spaning 20 years.......almost word for word... hmmm can you say recycled articles? PEOPLE.remeber who publishes these magazines.... sports nutrition manufacturers! I had a nutrition stire for a few years and guess what? There are only a few manufacturers of these products. a factory in Utah makes all the whey protein for most of the Venders you see in magazines.
These magazines, as well as Pro BBding competitions are a vehicle to sell products....look at who sponsers them. Its no different than NASCAR.
In the 70's Casey Viator work with Aurthur Smith on the Colorado (?) experiment. Using Aurther Smiths equipment and trainng techniques Casey reportedly put on like 80lbs of muscle in something like 90 days....Aurther Smith was the manufacturer and owner of Natilus weight equipment... at the time , a new product.

So take the magazine articles with a grain of salt.

If you buy each of the major mags twice a year then you might find some thing different. M&F is the same every month..
I only buy MD for the gear articles and to see what Romano has writen...

the only conspiracy i see lately in MD is that MuscleTech is everywhere......and if you take all of their products you'll look like jay, matt, & jeremy.

none of the workouts ever coincide with their traing videos. they have to come up with some new cutting edge routine every month to sell mags. some are decent, some are BS. i do like to see the different training splits though.

i rarely read anymore, just look at pics and contest photos and countinously repeat,' one day, give me time, one day'!!
