Max Bench - Goin' Up

crank

New member
As some of you will recall I was damn excited around Christmas time a couple months ago because I finally hit 200 for my max bench.

New Max Bench Today of 220 :D

I know half of you are crushing that easily but you better get your ass to the gym because I'm going to catch up and pass you!

awesome brotha', keep up the hard work! what are you weighing these days? other lifts up too?

I'm at around 175 now, 5'10" - Pretty sure around 13 - 14% BF

I was curling the 45's for lots of reps around x-mas. Now I'm tossing around the 55's.

Haven't done shoulders this year yet due to injury :( My favorite bodypart too.....

I never go super heavy legs so I couldn't tell you my max, but I'm squatting with 250 or so for reps.

I'll post some more later. I'm goin' to bed right now though.

Thanks for the support guys. It helps a lot

careful with the maxing brotha', the absolute last thing you want is to tear your pec or rotator cuff.

how does the maxing all the time feel on your shoulder??? it seems like that would hurt quite a bit.

It's all in the technique and form bro'

Form & Warming up are key to avoiding injury.

If you're finding that your shoulders are hurting or are being used a lot during your bench press, try bringing the bar lower down your body away from your shoulders. This will recruit more of your chest and less of your shoulders.

Ya but your shoulder is already bummed
and
I made you a physio plan for it that definitely didnt include doing max presses. Your shoulder needs time to heal or your gonna end up under the knife with a torn supraspinatus.

i'm talking about you you silly goose.LMAO no seriously, i know when i fist started out and was maxing every month i felt it in every joint (shoulders/elbows/wrists), i'm just thinking that with your bad shoulder it might end up hurting you in the long run. but then again i dont really know the type of pain you're having, and you know your body better than me so good uck brotha'!

I know I'm overdoing it bro

I just don't want to admit it.

My left forearm was actually hurting deep down in the bone yesterday and I am still nursing my right shoulder.

I need some sense slapped into me sometimes

I promise I'll take it easy for the next couple months ;)

seriously brotha' i know how it feels to be on your first cycle and feeling stronger than shit. its cool being able to move weight you thought you'd never be able to, but maxing all the time it really just asking for a tear. then your cycle will be cut short, you'll lose most if not all your hard earned gains and you'll have to rehab the tear. not worth it bro. try doing 3 rep maxes if you must, they are a lot safer and will help build strength at the same time as your ego...LOL. i almost neve go below 6 reps, and thats on deads. everything else i'm right at 8 reps for a workset.
