Bis and Tris on the same day?

Who works out there Bis and Tris on the same day? Is this more effective than working a Bi day and then a Tri day and adding the extra day of rest? If you do work them the same day shoot me an example.
Also, check out my thread in the personal trainers discussion for more info. Id really like to figure this out soon!

bro, personally i do bis and tris on the same day, and nothing else. i do 2 tris then 2 bis (heavy sets), after this i alternate between the two doing stricly iso movements and toning. this is usually a solid 1-115 hr. routine. but i always do a little extra for the arms. i

i have had really good results with this method, at least size and intesity wise. yet if you plan on doing another major body group the next day or two after...it will hinder the maximal results. give it a good two days to recover from this kind of workout.

just my two cents.

stats
weight: 240
height: 6'3
arms: 19 in.

how much recovery time as in days to u let your muscles rest before working them out again....1 day? i do chest, shoulders, and tri's same day eod, and back and bi's eod, with a day of rest on sundays,,, am i overdoing it?

I've given arms their own day before it's a good way to give them more priority. I'm currently training biceps on tuesday along with calfs and traps, and then triceps on saturday along with shoulders. I'm also going to hit my biceps again on friday which is my back day.

Sonoma i normally hit everything once a week, with the exception of maybe biceps, calfs and abs. I also wouldn't work chest/shoulder/triceps in the same workout, in my opinion chest, back and legs need their own days. You could put shoulders and triceps together though, that's what i do.

My arms were badly lagging behind until I started training arms on their own day. I always found that I could not put enough into my arm training after chest or shoulders. I do 12 sets for tris then 9 sets for bis and 6 sets for forearms. If I do my bis first I find I can;t train my tris properly due to the pump. In and out in under 50 minutes as with all my workouts.

i have to bust my ass to get my chest, tri's and shoulders done in less than 2 hrs, and i always go over. i'm gonna switch it up and see if i can get something going. did chest shoulders and tri's today with abs. " try to do abs daily". thanx for the info.

2 hour workouts? Unless you are on some serious amount of chemicals or a genetic freak you are going to be seriously overtraining, in my opinion anything over an hour is counterproductive ideally you should be in and out in 45-50 minutes.

I agree with Irishmuscle on this one, you can use supersets and shorter rest periods to shorten up your workout. After an hour your cortisol levels will sky rocket and this will lower your test levels. Here is an example of what you could do:

Monday: Legs, Abs, Calfs
Tuesday: Traps, Biceps, Forearms, Cardio
Wednesday: Chest, Abs, Cardio
Thursday:Off
Friday: Back, Abs
Saturday: Shoulders, Triceps, Cardio
Sunday; Off

Keep rest periods at no longer than 1 minute to shorten up your workouts, and try to progress in weight or reps each week. To ensure you do this keep a journal of your weights. I follow a similar split to this and it's great because i get to go heavy on squats and deads but have plenty of time to recover. Also abs are like any other muscle and need time to recover, working them everyday is counterproductive.

What about working JUST abs one day, and JUST obliques one day? When you work abs you hit a little bit of obliques and when you do obliques you hit a little bit of abs, or just keep them both to every other day?

My split looks like this-
Mon- Back calves
Tues- Shoulders and traps. 25 mins cardio
Wed- Chest and hams
Thurs- Arms and Abs
Fri- Quads and calves
I take the weekends off now to relax and it really works for me. You don't need much ab work until you are dieting cos all of the heavy squatting and rowing movements will thicken up the abs anyway.

Train obliques with abs, remember to start with training your lower abs first because if you start with upper abs your lower abs don't get stimulated as well later on. Also for thickness in the abs nothing beats cable crunches, but make sure you do them right, you should be curling into a ball at the bottom and squeezing. I see soooo many ppl keep their torso totally straight when doing these, that isn't right, that will predominately hit the serratus muscles. Ya I myself only hit abs once a week or so, because of all the heavy squating and deadlifting i do i'm not worried at all about my abs not being thick n defined.

Does this look straight? With the summer comming up Id really like to free up my weekends and not have to hit the gym.
Mon- Chest, ABS
Tues-Back,Forearms, Cardio
Wed-Legs,ABS, Cardio
Thurs-Shoulders
Fri- Bis and Tris,ABS, Cardio
Either Sat or Sun Ill hit up another cardio session.
MMX2, do me a favor and please post me your "typical" Bi routine, reason I ask is because my Biceps are seriously lacking and I dont know if its because Im over training or under training. Thanks
