try doing skull crushers/french press on an incline bench. i like it at a little less than 45* angle. this forces you to keep constant tension on your triceps. first hold the weight straight above your head with your arms perpendicular to the floor (straight up and down). then bring them backward about 3 inches, keep your elbows in this position throughout the entire motion. do not bring your elbows forward again so your arms are perpendicular to the floor. this takes all the stress off the triceps and lets them rest...and rest is only for pussies who can't hack it in a real gym. your elbows will most likely want to flare out, that is ok, stay in a position that is comfortable and you feel powerful in. give this an honest try for a few tricep workouts and you will love it.

after you try it come back and post how you liked it, even if it felt uncomfortable and i'll help you get it right. its a great exercise and i just wanted to share it with the rest of you.

I def like doing skulls on the incline, flat, and exp the delcine to increase the ROM. You should try them on a decline Flex if ya havent allready.

Funny you mention these Flex, mu buddy introduced them to my Fri during my Bi, Tri workout, they were killer, and didnt drain me half as much as rugular skull crushers and wasnt to harsh on my wrist, we were using dumbells and when getting to the very top were turning out wrists inwards really pushing on the outer tri, its Sunday and they are still sore!

I tried them about 2 minths ago and have been doing them ever since, feels like I get more out of these then normal flat skull krushers

Ruhl does them like that.
yep, i've got his video's. big fella.

fonz, i love them on a decline as well. i almost never do flat anything (bench, skull crushers...) it hurts my shoulder too much and imho is just too risky.

Incline d-bell presses have begun killing my outer delts, what can I sub them for? Would the Iso-Wide hammer machine at about 8-10 reps REALLY focusing on my chest be a good sub? I can really pinch my upper pecs with that machine especially if I have the seat set a little low. I just dont want to overkill my triceps too much in my chest work outs, ive been doing that for too many years now, hince the reason my chest sucks!

NO, when you do anything wide you put tremendous amounts of prsseure on the shoulder. I wouldnt reccemend doing anything wide like that.

Anytime you lockout when doing a pressing movement the stress gets put on the shoulders, triceps and joints.

I love skull crushers, but they don't love my elbows. I get tendonitis in the elbows if I do a lot of them. The problem is that I'm really strong on that movement so if I don't use enough weight, I don't feel like I'm really working out (and no, I don't lockout). It's probably due to the fact that I'm test cyp. I've heard it isn't too friendly to the joints.

Have to agree here. Going wide is what initially started my problems. Only until I learned to control the elbows from flaring out did I manage some control over the tendonitis that I get. I always do a slow, controlled movement with the elbows as close together as I can now--works just as well.
