so i am at the gym and the owner walks by and believe me this guy doesnt look like he owns weights much less a facility filled with the shit. any way i am doing bent over dumbell rows with 125 and he walks by and start to correct me on what i am doing wrong. first rule of thumb if u r not a quarter of the size of me dont try to tell me how to lift. just because you have a mail order personal trainers certificate dont mean u know every thing. expirience is 100% knowledge. as i explained this to him he just walked away. think he got the point. sorry just some people just piss me off.

I get things like that every day, recently had a lecture on how bad AS were for me by a guy who was at least 60 lbs overweight and looked like he could have a coronary at any second

I agree with you. If there is one thing I hate it's when people try to correct you or give you advice at the gym. I don't agree with your reasoning though. Just because someone is bigger does not mean that they know more than the next. I'm only 5'9" 190 and I have guys that are 220 or so try to tell me their way is better, but in reality, they started at 200 where I started at 125/130. Gotta go by who has made better progress. But yeah, the best thing to do is to just wear headphones and ignore everyone, get in, lift, and get out.

yeah ther bad 4 u but excuse me while i go to lunch and order a double quarter pounder with bacon mayo and super fri and oh yeah a diet coke

It is very annoying when someone starts to tell you how to do something or correct you without your asking. I just try to look intense enough that people don't bother me. I agree with PJT. Larger guys don't always know the better way. I also started at 130 and have made my way to 200 where others started out like PJT said. That said however, I still keep my mind open in case I really am doing something wrong.

I got one the other day from a guy who looked like he's never done a leg workout before in his life. He said I was straitening my legs too much on the hack squat. I thanked him for he concern and kept doing what I was doing. When relized I didn't rectify the situation as he saw fit he came up AGAIN and said, "Look man, I was just trying to help." My reply was simple, "And I thanked you." He soryt of waled off bitterly.

There is an endless sea of these morons.

Oh, so now you think you're better than me with your 200 vs. my 190? LOL. J/K Tony. I would love to get that extra 10lbs though. Big A training starting in a few weeks....

agree with all just agrivateing sometimes.

And I didn't mean to put down or hijack your thread. I think this is actually one of the most frustrating things that happens at the gym so I totally agree with you. In a way though, it kinda gives me the motivation to be able to lift more than that idiot using proper form. Then when he looks over and sees you putting up more weight than him or when he injures himself doing things "his way", it puts a smile on your face.

LOL...alright, you guys took that the wrong way. I don't ROOT for people to get hurt. Everyone is there with the same goals, but when some moron tries to preach to you about correct form and in turn injures himself doing it his way, that wouldn't be a mental victory for you? That goes for anything in life, not just working out.

I don't even bother with people anymore even if I see injuries waiting to happen. lol. People don't like to hear that, and it gives people another reason to bother me when I'm working out. lol. If people want my advice at the gym they'll ask me.

I just wear tights with no undies and a ski mask. No one ever bothers me.

Haha, we know you're alright, but you do get the feeling deep inside, "served you right" you know?

I should be jealous of you. I have made it to 200 lbs, but I have the damnedest time keeping it. You're also probably a lot leaner than me, and you being that weight at your height will definitely look bigger than me. I was up there again last week until the weekend when I got food poisoning _again_ and couldn't eat for two days. Lost 7 lbs. Well, back to the gym.

Thats a good one man I'm going to try it because it sounded like it worked well.

I get way more annoyed when sombody asks me for advice (and I give it to them Even though I dont have to) and then doesent do it, or doesnt do it properly, or even worse argues with me.

Agree totally, a friend of mine asks for my advice never listens then pays his skinny little personal trainer to give him crap advice

bump that.....don't ask if you won't listen. Saves me time and I get out of the gym quicker.

If anything, I get noticed in the gym because I actually make progress (although slow) and when people ask me what Im doing, I start telling them how much and often I eat and how much time I spend cooking.....then they kinda quit listening cause its too much work.

To be completly honest, this never happens at the gym or with my friends. only online.
