Ok well im just wondering what everybody does 10 times and maxes out at for squating , and benching.

i dont do much strait bar bench but on dumbells i do 130's 6 times on squat i only do front squats and i do 225 for reps up to 315 for 5 or so.

Im constantly asked this. Why is this always asked? You meet some new people and they notice by your size that you lift. So, of course they ask you, "how much do you bench"? I look them dead in the face with all honesty and say.... ahhhh about 155. They are like, "yeah, thats cool". Just last week this girl Im seeing asks me "how much do you bench". I told her 155, maybe a little more. She called me a liar(insisting I could do much more) and made me prove it, luckily enough we were on her college campus and right across from the gym, I went in and stretched really good. Put 155 on the bar and hammered it out about 15 times till she was goon and content. Yall just dont tell her that my max is only 160 LOL!

How big are yall

Ok the reason is im asking what all of you bench , is im just trying to find out how much you real big people bench. Because im kind of confused , because it kind of seems to me that alot of big people I know dont bench as much as I would think.

Keep in mind, and I notice this a lot too, that the bigger guys who actually know what they are doing concentrate more on proper form and working the muscle that just banging the weight up there. Where the guy on the bench next to him that is 1/2 his size has the same weight on the bar, but is using horrible form bouncing the weight off his chest. I've seen this many times, but the guy who is using proper form 2 seconds down, 1 second etc...is much more impressive.

Personally I can max out at 315, but I'm not that big either. 5'9" currently 188lbs.

never maxed out my 10 rep max on anything, one time no idea for squat but i have done 565 for 3 proper and 4th and 5th rep were sloooopy, lol, bench 465 once good form, tryed 490 we wont talk about it,lol, and i am all about form and im in this spot for longevity so i dont max out and those number are 4-5 years old for squat and 3-4 on bench, i know for a fact i cant touch them now but i look like i can so im ok with that

Supermannpc is right. Don't worry about the numbers or how much the big guys lift. Everyone is going to be different. Concentrate on your own lifts and keep proper form. You might be surprised down the road because your progress may astound you.

I've seen guys in the gym that load up a lot of weight on the bench but only go 1/2 way down. I rather do proper form with full range with less weight. Also see guys on squats that only go down bout 2 inches with 4 plates on each side and they think they're hot shot.

the worst is the guys that do shrugs with like 800 lbs on the bar
come on now lets get serious
i hate those fucking guys.....

LOL....you mean the ones who do a set of 3 reps then slam down the weight and look up to see who was watching them? Then 10 minutes later do another sloppy set. I hate those fuckers too.

I honestly don't even pay attention to anyone else at the gym anymore. Just keep my head down and do my sets and get out.

:puke: incline bench press 300lbs it litteraly puts your shoulders in your ass and I am not one of those big guys only 170 cut

some of us are not "real big people"

The most I've ever done is about 315lbs flat bench and 275lbs on incline for 6. Squat I've gone as high as about 450lbs for about 5. Deads I've gone as high as 505 for 4 or 5. Shrugs I've gone 505 for 8 - cleanly. Pull downs 260lbs for 6. Cable Rows 300lbs for 6. Curls 140-160 for 6-8...I dunno what else.

Now a days, I can't do nearly as much. Need to get out of my rut and start pounding the weight again. It's a constant battle bro and it's going to take some time to get up to these weights again. I already know it so I'm not expecting to get back there overnight. Do the same bro and keep plugging away at it.

i dont know my best one rep squat. i used to do 4 sets of 4 with 455, and yes they were below parallel but after i finished playin highschool football i quit squating untill here recently. bench press for 1 rep is around 340 give or take 5 lbs.

Form is important - I tend to go nice and slow with reps.

But I never touch the bar to my chest in the bench (I stop about two inches above) or I screw up my rotator. Also, I only go down until my thighs are at a 45 degre angle to my calf, or I can't walk up stairs for a week even when I squa light weights. So you gotta do the proper form, but you also have to adjust for weird things in your body. Since I am almost 40, I am more concerend with not scewing up my joints than how much I lift.

I currently bench 330 and squat 635. I am not that big either - 5'8" and 200 (OK I am 198, but I will get to 200 soon).
