torn articular cartilage?????

hey guys been a catcher in baseball for a little over 13 years till i finally had to quit for a shoulder problem got it fixed and now for the past year have been faced with a knee problem. MRI and xray show torn articular cartilage im prob gonna go on with the arthroscopic surgery as its the size of a tennis ball most days and hard to move even on celebrex. My question is has anybody had this before and if so how long were you out, on crutches or any other info on it would be great reason im not asking my doc. is cause im not going back for my follow up for a week and i just wanted to see if i could get some first hand knowledge. Thanks guys.

i HAD MY RIGHT KNEE DONE IN 1994 AND i WAS ON CRUCHES FOR FOR A COUPLE MONTHS AND PRETTY MUCH LAID UP ALL SUMMER THAT YEAR,BUT THAT WAS 12 Y4EARS AGO, HOPEFULLY THERE IS A BETTER PROCEDURE AS WELL AS RECUPERATION TIME

I was actually reading Men's Health fitness and they showed a new study in the near future that would repair cartilage. They do this by using stem cells derived from bone marrow. This in turn will help doctors to replace damaged cartilage with tissue grown from a patient's own stem cells. This would be amazing for alot of people...since surgeries can also repair tendons and ligament, but once cartilage are torn or gone bad their is no replacement....The future holds alot for humans...

aight cool thanks guys yeah i hope im not laid up all summer that would seriously blow

I bet if you had the surgery and then went on IGF and an HRT dose of Test you would recover much quicker... of course I'm not a Doctor but I play one on message boards@!

haha yeah prob so mike but i cant run igf i dont like it it makes me go hypo way to much and it scares me im not borderline diabetic or anything get my blood tested often so i dont know what it could be. But i know its orthoscopic so i know it will be much faster then my shoulder which left about a 51/2 inch scar.
