picking a dog

Soon im getting my first dog since I was a kid. Me and the mrs have narrowed it down to a Siberian husky, german Shepard or bloodhound.

Any recommendations? I like the bloodhound cause their barks are so vicious sounding. But any big dog should have quite the deterrent effect. Siberians are easy to find here though.

the only thing i could suggest is that you read up about each breed and see what works best for you and your family.
i know huskys can be a little stubbourne and difficult to train. . also all long haired dogs need regular grooming.

I've never had anything except small dogs. So I can't really give any insight on this, but I know a lot of people that have husky's and they all love them

Me and my wife just got my boys a black lab.. They are very smart... She is only 12 weeks and she already is 24 ibs... The down size on them is they like to chew and I mean alot... But they will grow out of that.. Awesome family dogs !!!!

Yea, I had a lab/beagle mix and the damn thing ate everything as a puppy

We got a Vizsla. Its the smallest of the retrievers, our female is 47 pounds and a little over a year old. They barely shed at all, and they only have 1 coat (no under coat) much less dander than a dog with 2 coats. They are also great dogs for people with allergies. She has a bark of a much larger dog, and only barks when it is neccasary to do so, unlike alot of dogs that bark at the wind, or everytime they want something.

A lab is an option.never met one I didn't like. Thanks for the input guys.

Yea, I feel ya there, I've never seen one that's mean. I used to have one that I never even needed a leash for, he wouldn't leave my side. I could go into the convenient store and he'd sit right by the door until I came back out. I lived right down the road so I'd walk up there and take him with me. He was a great dog, protective too, he wouldn't let anyone near my gf if he didn't know them. But I don't know that he'd bite anyone, but you'd never know it by how he acted, I never saw him bite anyone, but he'd bark all holy hell at people

yeah bro look into the Viszla its just like a lab but a bit smaller and sheds wayyyyyyyy less, I loved my yellow lab and My Vizsla is just a smarter smaller version that doesnt eat poop unlike most labs and like I said the lack of shedding is a huge plus, also known as a hungarian pointer
