Maybe you've seen them in the health foods store, some supermarkets may even have them. If so, you know that for a small bag you'll spend easily $8, but if you make them yourself you can save a ton of money.
All it requires is fresh Kale, EVOO, salt, pepper, garlic powder.
First cut the stems out of the kale leaves and tear into bite size pieces. Wash to get off any dirt.
Spread out into a baking pan, I used 9x13 and lightly drizzle some EVOO over it.
Toss the kale to evenly cover it with the olive oil.
Then season to taste with salt, pepper and garlic powder, or whatever floats your boat.
Again, toss kale to evenly coat with spices. Here are three pans ready to go in oven. I had enough for a fourth pan but no fourth pan to put it in. The amount of kale you see here was literally less than $1 at my local farmer's market.
Bake at 350. I baked for 12 minutes, then tossed the kale and spread it out a little bit and baked for another 5 minutes. After doing all four pans it made one full pan of actual kale chips after baking.
Really easy to make, great snack and super cheap.
