Ok I've had major shoulder issues years ago internally, and i know that takes forever to heal. But now i have pulled my left shoulder muscles for the first time ever i think! I was picking my son up out of his car seat and the next thing i know i can't lift my left arms with out the muscle shooting pain in my shoulder, but its been 4 days!!!!

I honestly thought with some rest it would go away by now, anyone know if shoulders muscle pulls, specifically front and side felt pulls take longer to heal, I'm stunned at the pain, and i forget the pain is there when my arm is down to my side and i will go to grab something from the fridge and forget it hurts and BAM the pain shoots down my delta muscles and I'm quickly reminded its still pulled

is it normal for shoulder muscle pulls to last this long? I'm stunned and i have worked out since cause theres nothing i can do but legs at this point and even then i have to load plates and i don't wanna make my shoulder worse.

long story short is my questions is this, is it normal for shoulder muscles to last this long, I'm at day 4 and it hurts as bad as day 1

Could be a bicep tendon? One attaches in the outer front of the shoulder and it could be effected by the motion you describe by picking up you kid. Just a thought.

It's 100% my shoulder and it's cause I have long arms and didn't bother to bend down into car and didn't bother bending elbows to get him out of his car seat, I sort of straight arm lifted him out from car seat and pulled my side delt mostly. Fucking hurts like hell

Ifeel ya pain seriously. Did military press... Lawd it was like a shin splint feeling in my delts I stopped and went home really pisses me off! Here's some articles I've been reading over. I injured my left shoulder 4 months ago and I still feel the pain. I still need assistance getting dumbells up for inclines or presses. I figured that my age and stupidity (take 3 adville then train) has kept me from making a full recovery. I will say that ice has been of some help and so has Arnicare. Rest it and dont push it like I did.

Are you talking about a partially dislocated shoulder or a strained delt? Either way probably 2 weeks for it to start to feel semi normal.

i am nearly positive its just a pulled / strained delt! When i go to lift my arm the muscle hurts like hell, but when i put a lot of pressure on the delta muscle with my other hand and then try to raise that arm it doesn't hurt as much, so i think its definitely the delt muscle thats pulled or strained, got i pray it didn't dislocate just getting my son out of a car seat lol, i think i would have felt that, pretty sure its just a pull, I'm just surprised its still hurting 4 days later!

Deep tissue massage , and some flexibility exercises would do so , depending how good is the physio therapist , pain lasting a week is normal but if it doesn't go after two weeks then I must suggest MRI to clear the picture IMHO

You would have felt the dislocation. I've pulled my shoulder out pulling a golf club out of a bag on a cart. I was walking and with a stiff arm pulled the club halfway out and it got stuck and I kept walking while holding on and my shoulder came out. Pretty lame. I have bad shoulders though. I first dislocated them playing baseball sliding head first into 3rd bass in high school. Bam both shoulders at once. Fucking sucked. You would have felt that. It feels really wierd and all you can do is bend over and try to wiggle your shoulder and let it kind of...snap or slide back in.

I've dislocated mine shoulder , the next day wasn't fun at all had to sleep in weird and single position for more than a month and mine wasn't that bad it pop out and was dislocated for like a min , I was playing rugby over stretched my shoulder backwards trying to fend off opponent , heard weird cracking sound lol and couldn't lift my arm well then went out to the physio she asked me to sit down and was getting ready for some weird moves to try on me shoulder lol luckily as I bent to sit down some how my shoulder relocated itself thank God if its out for a longer time it gets worse

Explain the type of pain you are feeling for me.

is it a shooting pain? a dull, constant pain? Does the pain radiate anywhere besides the shoulder?

Shoulder injuries are tough, because its hard to really give it time to rest. Honestly, if i were you, i'd go to the ER, or your doc, and get it checked out (granted, all they will do is an xray to make sure the bone isn't the culprit, but from what you're saying, its not your bone). You may need to immobilize the shoulder so you actually give it time to rest.

From what you stated above, it sounds either like a partial tear of your deltoid, or nerve impingement. If you impinge a never, you're going to have some sever pain, and you're not going to be able to move the appendage. Whereas, when you tear a muscle, there actually isn't much pain (fun fact).

I've done it. It is crazy painful and it takes quite some time. I personally wouldn't do anything that causes pain for at least 14 days. Then super light short stuff to get some blood in there.
Mine prevented me from any kind of pressing movements for about a month. Even then it was very light. I DID NOT HAVE IGF at that time though.
It is a crazy sharp shooting pain though

It's DEFINITLY just a bad pulled deltoid muscle. I have to try remembering not to use that arm though lol I keep forgetting and it hurts like hell!
