Horrible wrist pain

at the base of my thumb where it comes into my wrist. I thought it was fractured bc its been hurting about 6 months now, I got xrays and nada.

A PT guy works out at my gym, and he said bc my surgery on my right arm, my left arm over compencated and thats why my left wrist hurts, but seriously 6 months of pain now from over compensation?? really?? any ideas?

I don't see it being overcompensated. Could just be a muscle strain that keeps occurring from everyday use or something. I know 6 months is a long time, but if you've not taken any time off, you could just be re-injuring the muscle. Who knows though, I'm not a doctor, but that'd make sense to me

Does it hurt when you move your wrist only or does putting a finger on the spot and then moving your thumb up and down also hurt it? I disagree with overcompensation unless doing more things with that wrist caused you to injure that tendon. Also, alot of people develop cysts there called ganglion cysts that can be quite painful and resistant to leaving - can u feel any kind of knot beneath your skin there. And what have you tried to get it better?

to try and get it better I layed off of it for a while but now im needing to gain weight back so I have been using a wrist wrap to hold pressure on wrist and thumb. It feel a little different than my right sides, and if I push down on the area with some pressure and move around the skin, I feel like tendons or something cracklin around a lil bit where as right doesnt do that.
It mostly hurts when I am talking with my hands (Greek and Italiann cant help it) and I put my thumb out laterally , or like if I scratch an itch on my back and I have to bend my hand around to use my thumb to get it bc its higher up on my back (goin from behing me from lower back to mid high back) If I were working right now id love to get alflutop for it.. It could be a ganglion cycst but Im not sure if it is or not, and the timing would be coincedental

Sounds like it might be a ganglion or tendonitis in that wrist. Did you have any kind of trauma to it before it started hurting? Either way there's not a real quick fix. If it's a ganglion cyst that you can feel you can smash it with a heavy book like a Bible pretty hard and try to bust it, although i will hurt like a mother and there's about a 50% chance that it'll come back in the same place later if you do. My wife had one that we busted in around the same spot and it did come back, but it's not as painful this time and it is further up the tendon sheath. If it's tendonitis from overuse then Aflutop would help and there's not a whole lot else to do - but if you've been taking it easy a tendon injury should've healed a bit in 6 months.

I dont think its a cyst bc I cant feel a cyst unless its between the radius and metacarpals

What do you do for work? Could it be RSI?
My wrist has been stuffed for quite a few months and I pin pointed it down tonusiny a computer too much And my guitar.

Have you punched anything like a wall with that wrist. A common thing is a "boxer's fracture" from punching. Unless a really good radiologist is looking at the Xray and looking for it you may not see it. There are a ton of little bones in the wrist that could break. Just a hunch.

Other than that I would tend to think its just tendinitis.

Yeah I know what that is, and I thought it may have been that bc I did hit a 100 pound bag w left hand only after my surgery and I didnt wrap wrist, but I took xrays and I looked at it and saw nothing, its not in the carpals its on the styloid of the radial bone
