Opinions on a cycle for a beginner

I've been reading a lot of the posts on picking a cycle for a beginner. I'm hoping that someone can give me some quality help with figuring out the best route for me.

I compete in jiu jitsu, usually do about 5-6 tournaments a year. The end of this month will be the last tournament I do in a weight class and will be competing in the absolute division(no weight class). I am 5'8" 190-195 and cut down to 170. I want to put on at least 20-25 pounds over the next few months, and increase strength obviously.

Im not really sure where to start....test, possibly deca, anti-e (really want to avoid estrogen problems), aq, something to avoid hypertension....and so on...confused about almost all of it...

Any help would be very appreciated.

Test at 500mg a week and run some Nolvadex 10mg to 20mg with if gyno becomes an issue. Should be and easy and cheap cycle and you will get what you are after for results.

Thanks for the help. How long would you suggest I stay on that?

I agree with Nuk but I wouldnt continue on just that for an extended time, like when your ready for another cyc after it I would incorporate something to protect your jooints, esp bc the sport you are in

Yeah, I have some crazy tendonitis in my elbows. I've heard that deca might be the way to go with that. Do you think deca would be good for the first cycle?

no just stick with the 1 thing for your first time than after your period of time off of that cyc exploore your options for stacking 2 things together

For security reasons I can't give to much detail, but I can say this much. I have been in the Jits game quite some time and rolled with some high level practitioners that are very skilled and have a high zeal for this sport.
When we introduced AAS to the game, either for MMA or for Jits comp. We used EQ,Test-P, and Halo.
Your looking to beaf up and up the weight class, from seeing what I have and from experiences it's not really that beneficial. Cause one you still have to keep cardio up, and the same time be able to roll, landing umaplata's ext, and adding bulk will hinder your movment and slow you down. Just add quality size over time. To aim at 20-25LB over a few months will most deff impact your training on a scale that you'll regret.
Just rock some Test P, EQ, perfect compounds together for this sport, down the road add some Halo, but that's a whole diff ball game.

Great info, thanks. I've been competing for about 10 years in jits and wrestled for 15 years before that. I've always cut weight for tournaments, so putting some big gains on and keeping everything smooth on the mat is foreign to me. I'm not too concerned about my cardio, however I've never tried this before. After the tourney on the 30th I have about 3 1/2 month break before my next competition, so I should have time to get things right.

If you want to up the weight class, and do what ever it takes to get there, then that is one thing, but keep in mind about the level and the condition of the guys in that class. It will be a whole new ball game for you. Why don't you focus on adding some lean size, and work on some serious strength and really dominate your division and sandbag the balls out of people?
The test P, will add mass and strenght like test is known for, and will be less harsh on bloat like the longer esters are. And the EQ is amazing far as endurance goes in this sport, a must have for Jits/grapplers and submission wrestlers. If I would have known about Bold/eq in my high school and freestyle days, I would have doubles over in bottles of the stuff.

No reason why you can't up 10-13 lbs of quality gains by 3 months.. Make the bigger transition later in the year, keep it simple and basic bro, don't go above and beyond, cause the outcome may not be what you think.

Trust me when I speak of this, the guys I roll with are who's who, and big players in this game.
If your seaking to do the absolute, your better off being in shape, not sized up.

agreed and the benefits for connective tissue from the EQ is great too, if I were you id try it on the 2nd cyc you go on, and Eat is right with hopping up in weight too fast bc its going to have an impact on reaction times, among other things

I've got the eating thing down pretty well, and the strength and conditioning thing as well, I've been a CSCS for a while. I've rolled with some big names, earned my blue and purple belt under Dean Lister, and trained under Gustavo Muchado while I was in the military and I do a lot of takedown training with the University of Iowa Wrestling coaches. Anyway, Eat'n Big I appreciate the info, it has helped a lot. I'll let you know how it goes.

Congrats on the high level or rolling, deff use what these guys tell you, cause guys that our under cards of them may have many bad habits.
You have a great base there with your instructions and whom you rolled with, if you are that confident in what you know now, and your level, and if you really want to jump in in class, then go for it. I would rather tho see you completely dominate your division, once you done that, bump up and take over the next division.
I wish I could say whom I rolled with, and still roll with, but for many reasons I can't.
I'm impressed with the Iowa training center, feel privileged to have gone there amd been a part of that, that was a rare opportunity my man!

When your ready for the cycle, let us know here and we can lay it out for you, or shoot me or anyone else here a PM for a cycle lay-out.

You'll do fine my man.

Thanks a lot. My brother-in-law is good friends with Mike Zaddick, an Iowa assistant coach and Olympic Wrestler, so he got me the hook-up. I won my weight class last month at a tourney in St. Louis and Chicago a couple months ago. I love competition and challenges, I feel that competing in the absolute division will give me something to strive for over the next couple years and beyond.

As for pictures, I have to be careful about posting any, just in case due to my job. But Dean is an amazing grappler, and a hell of an instructor. I trained at H.I.T. Squad with Hughes a couple months ago, was there for just a few days, but it was a blast.

Haha you could say that....I only got to roll with Matt a few times, but it was definitely intense! If my job would allow me some time to get down there more often, I would.

He will forever be my favorite fighter. Have you read his book?
