So I came across my magic box under my bed, and found a handful of gear that I had from my last prep. Some of the stuff had expiration dates that were a few years old. The gear looks ok.. no discoloration, no crystallization, and nothing abnormal looking. It's been kept in a box under the bed for years. How safe do you think it still is?
