Regaining motivation....

Had a rough weekend, here I am 9 weeks out from the biggest show of my life and I laid in bed last night wondering why I'm doing this. I feel like I completely lost the fire the last couple days. Trying to get stoked to train today and bring it back. Maybe krank some disturbed to crazy loudness, pound down some clen and coffee, wear some motivational workout gear (my "shut the fuck up and train" shirt).
What do you guys do? I either need to kick it up a couple notches this week or I'm DONE!!!! :nope:

Here is what I would do.....

1 hour before your workout, start thinking about nothing but your workout..... Start getting your gear together and choosing your music (something real heavy!). By the half hour mark, take some ECA and drink a cup of coffee with whatever else you usually have before a workout..... Then start to visualize yourself lifting the big weights, crushing the poundages! Then go to the gym and do it! While your lifting think abotu yourself beating all other competitors, think about you being in the best condition ever!!! AND GET IT DONE!!!!!

Don't take this personally,

But what does a rough weekend have do with the goals you have set for yourself for your big show! We all have "off"days.
I used to be the king of pitty parties. It's to easy to spiral down hill when this happens.
What I do now when that feeling comes around, is focus on the big picture and what it is I have been working my ass off to attain.
That in itself is generally enough to get the fire burning again.
The rough weekend is over now. It's time to refocus on acheiving the goals you set for your self. The only one you will let down is YOU!
Rock and Roll!

Give yourself a couple hours or so before you go workout to get your mind together. Visualize. Whatever gear is involved take it. Wear your "shut the fuck up" shirt and go to a different gym where nobody knows you. No distractions! Get mad. Get mad about anything...childhood days, think about the kid that sucker punched ya, talked shit about you, whatever. Then go tear some shit up!!!! Hit every set so hard that your life passes before your eyes. No distractions man.

kidrock I feel for you!! all of use go threw that unmotivated days- what I did last year what helped was I had the poster of my show in every room that I sat- when I looked at it I remembered all the other assholes who think they are going to beat me at the show- I start giving the people names even- I also had sticky notes on my car that had the contest date and my goals for that contest- If I got to the gym and was still alittle unmotited I had in my trainin gjournal my goals for the contest and the date- then I picked soemguy in the gym that I wanted to destroy that workout and pretended he was in the contest- sounds stupid maybe even a littkle schizo but it worked-

and if all else fails e-mail skip trust me he got me out of a few unmotivated streeks!!!

Just remember this is your year and your show and no one or nobody is going to take your hardware away from you!!! This is your show!!! Say that when you start to get unmotivated- and win that damn show!!!!! We all know you can do it now just ingrain it in your head!!

KR...........you got this show! No-one is going to take it from you!
You've inspired many of your friends, family (your Dad especially), and guys in the seats waiting to see you explode on stage.
Remember that guy that said you had "chicken legs" when you were a little kr...keep that in mind when you're headed to the gym. There's no time for conversing at the gym (just like the shirt says). Your there to Kick Ass ...now get to it!!!!

KR,

Reading some of your posts has given me motivation and allowed me to better my training, now it's time for you to get to the gym my friend. GO! Just get up and go. After you're done you're gonna be happy you went and it's that simple.

thanks randy for adding that. that's some motivation for sure. i like some of the suggestions that people have come up with and i've got some of my own too but i think kr needs to here it from everyone here too.

Let's keep the suggestions coming......

thanks guys it definirely helps to have y'all kick me in the AZZ!!!
The down-side of contest prep is that unlike other sports it is a 24hour job. Discipline must be maintained regarding diet, fluid intake, supplements, rest, and when everything else in your life is turning upside-down it creates some mental turmoil and self-doubt!!!
I will not quit.

yea and when is your competition? Theres pauses in training to accomplish growth....lulls help you prepare for the best... enjoy the journey.

Just remember the guys in you class are busting there ass to take you out. every rep you do they are doing one extra.

Show up and show them whos the man!!!!!!!!;)

Every so often, I get sick and tired of the schedule too. The workouts can seem monotonous, etc. When this happens, I might take a break from the gym for an extra day or two and rest. After a while, I am usually ready to hit it hard again.

2 things that work well for getting me motivated in the gym:

1) DL'ing some new music into my mp3 player for solo workouts

2) Scheduling workouts with a lifting partner that pushes it hard

2 things that work well for motivating me to stick with the diet:

1) Eliminating all foods not on the list from my kitchen (or having the wife hide em)

2) Visualizing me up there with 8% BF while everyone else is at 4

Whats the world coming to!!-KR whining and questioning his desire and fortitude!!I simply don't believe it-somebody(probably a competitor in his class)hacked his computer and posted that"doubt thread" just to mess with his head!!Well it ain't gonna work bros-I'm sure KR is pounding the iron as I eat my chicken and broccoli and type this message-I'm 14 weeks out KR and understand completely-relax-take a day or 2 off-get focused and finish what you've started-56 days and counting bro.....
