I have to say the same, the only thing I hate is when I use dumbells for a while and try to do barbell work I cant do any good weight on it, as if my strength is zapped from it
I like barbells for certain things, but dumbbells for others. If I had only one, I'd go with barbells though. I just like the way I can get more ROM from dumbbells
i hit both always in the same work out. even for shoulders, i hit heavy db's then go through my work out, and my last excercise will be BB press with the smith machine. or hit heavy BB first and then do arnold's for my last excersise.

I use both for shoulders also, I do BT presses with the barbell, but I use dumbbells for front raises and rear lat raises and a machine for side raises every other week
