Took my friend to my gym...

I took my friend to my gym today and he couldn't believe that there was rust on the weights, cob webs in the corners and no a/c. He asked how I can lift there and I simply stated that I grew up there and that I love how there's always hard rock on, bigger guys than me to motivate me, no bitching about dropping weights, chalk, making noise or any of that other bullshit. It's got everything I want/need in a gym so I'll never leave. They have squat stilts, deadlift platform and all the good stuff...

Bottom line, fuck these "fitness" clubs

hahaha nice, dunno if I could deal with the no a/c down here, but maybe if they had good fans set up it would be ok, im not afraid of sweating but id want to be able to grip the bar too lol

I've got to have AC. I hate sweating when I'm lifting. It's okay for cardio, but not while I'm lifting weights.

I guess I'm just used to it. It's nothing for it to be 80+ degrees in the gym in the summer and there I am with my beanie on lifting away...

My old gym was just like that. It was like a dungeon all dark and stinky even had bars on the windows. The dudes lifting were huge and were great motivators as well as teachers. It was a great place to start out, then the owner sold it and the new dude was a total douche. He was one of those guys that just keep talking the entire time. If you werent paying attention he would just get louder. One day he actually turned down the music and made the whole gym listen to his useless BS chatter. That was it for me. Now i belong to a 'fitness club' with a/c and flat screens ect... Its ok but if i could find another hole in the wall place that had 24/7 access id go back.

Yea, the hours at my gym aren't the best, but they're open when I need them to be so it works out for me. I wish they opened a little earlier in the mornings, but it's been this way for years so I don't see it changing now
