Motivation, or lack of!

This morning I had to FORCE myself to get downstairs to the gym to train legs. Haven't done legs in over a week, might be closer to 2. I KNOW I'll feel good once I get into it, as I am now (resting between sets of squats as I type this), and once started, I don't wanna stop.

But, MAN, I just don't want to get moving! Had 3 cups of coffee, lollygagging in my chair, reading a book for a solid hour before getting going! I hates that! I WANT to get in gear right away, burn through a workout and continue on with a productive day, but just can't seem to do it sometimes!

I go on stretches like that not just single days , sucks when u have to talk yourself into training lol

The crazy part is, I know damn well I'll be into it once I get over the hump, so to speak... and still sometimes just can't see to get it together!

I say this all the time: my own mind is my mortal enemy! It often wants me to do what's NOT good for me, and just as often DOESN'T want me to do what is!

I have days like that too. I'm a competitor so I try to keep the philosophy that i'm going to train no matter what. I feel like its the total accumulation of all the workouts throughout the years that really sets people apart. I've heard a few legendary powerlifters speak about that. It makes sense, so unless i'm really sick or something out of my control I try to follow that philosophy.

Da Struggle is real! Just got to keep on grinding when you get to where you are now.

Luckily, my gym is in my house, so at least after I'm done procrastinating, all I have to do is go down the stairs... LOL! My wife is pretty diligent about her training, so that helps, too. Can't have her making me look like a slacker!!

I go on night shift tonight, and was going to blow off training this morning but when I heard her banging iron around it got me downstairs! I have a gym at work, too, and usually get up there to that gym on night shifts.

What's that old Creedence song? "Keep on Chooglin". Seems appropriate!

I guess there are two sides to it. Most days I would love to train. I just don't recover like I used to. I'm doing weights 3 times a week tops. I love training, but I just can't train as often as most people.
