Martins Licis Crushes 805-Pound Deadlifts For Five Reps During Training
Martins Licis continues to be one of the contenders to be the 2022 World’s Strongest Man.
Martins Licis is back to his best and that has been clear during some recent performances. Licis will enter the 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition as one of the favorites to claim the title and that is even more apparent after watching some training videos. Recently, Licis completed five reps of 805 pounds while deadlifting.
The World’s Strongest Man competition will take place from May 24-29 in Sacramento. The full roster and list of events has been released. Licis looks to be back at full strength after being forced to miss the biggest competition of the year over the last couple years. In his recent Instagram post, Licis is seen completing massive deadlifts using a deadlift suit, lifting belt, a knee straps.
“Hookgrip 805lb 366kg deadlift for reps ? Just wanted three, but didn’t get the lockout I wanted on the second rep, got mad, kept going to makeup for it. I’ve got @reignbodyfuelto thank for the ⚡️ boost! One more deadlift session remaining to lock this in before @theworldsstrongestman ! Thank you @wreckitgym crew for cheering me on!”
The max deadlift is one of the events in the upcoming competition. Martins Licis is seen in the video using a conventional stance and hook grip. He was going for three reps but was able to get five. With the competition three weeks away, Licis will have one final deadlift session before heading to Sacramento.
Martins Licis won the World’s Strongest Man crown in 2019 before suffering some bad luck that kept him out of competition. He was able to return to prominence in 2021 by winning the Rogue Invitation. This year, he is already off to a hot start.
Licis won the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic in Columbus, OH. This was a competition that featured many of the top strongmen in the world, such as the Stoltman Brothers and Oleksii Novikov. The Ukrainian strongman finished second to Licis and is another competitor to watch come the end of May.
The 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition has a full roster of 30 with some former champions. Reigning champ Tom Stoltman will be looking to make it two in a row while four-time champion Brian Shaw will also be featured. Novikov won the title back in 2020 as well.

UFC 274 Oliveira vs Gaethje, Namajunas vs Esparza 2 Preview
UFC 274 will be must see TV!
This Saturday UFC 274 will feature intense bouts in the main and co-main event. Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira versus Justin Gaethje is sure to be a barn burner of a main event. Each man employs a pressure style and neither will back down from a firefight. The co-main event features strawweight champion Rose Namajunas in a rematch with former divisional queenpin Carla Esparza. Who wins at UFC 274? Let’s take a closer look.
Charles Oliveira vs Justin Gaethje
The lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje is sure to produce fireworks. The two battle tested veterans will no doubt engage in a battle on the feet, for at least the beginning portions of the bout. Despite Gaethje calling Oliveira a coward and a quitter, the champion has a dog in him and a willingness to throw himself into the fire. Gaethje has a similar ability to throw caution to the wind and take the battle to his opponent.
With the most submissions in UFC history you would think Charles Oliveira would be a takedown artist. Instead it’s Oliveira’s striking ability that often forces his opponents to shoot for a takedown or force them to make a mistake to initiate a wrestling exchange of his own. Oliveira pushes the pace and has an aggressive style which often forces opponents on the back foot. Because he’s such a submission threat opponents often find themselves avoiding a ground battle with the jiujitsu wizard.
Justin Gaethje will no doubt embrace a toe to toe battle with the champion. Since Oliveira has a tendency to get a bit careless in the pocket, Gaethje will look to use wild exchanges as an opportunity to counter. Oliveira has a brilliant jab but often times leaves his head on the line leaving him open to overhands over the top. It also will leave him heavy on the front leg. Gaethje will take those opportunities to both chop on the champion’s lead leg and bomb over the top with a cross/overhand counter.
This will likely be a war of attrition and if Charles Oliveira feels the heat he’ll shoot for double under hooks or a single leg. Justin Gaethje will look to chop the legs out from the champion and go toe to toe to prove who is the real dog of the lightweight division. It will certainly be fun while it lasts.
Rose Namajunas vs Carla Esparza 2
This rematch has been years in the making. When Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza first stared at each other across the octagon it was under far different circumstances. Esparza was an eleven fight veteran with a strong wrestling pedigree, having fought high level opposition. Namajunas on the other hand was the young talented upstart who burst onto the scene with a ton of promise but only three fights into her career.
Both Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza fought through the Ultimate Fighter 20 tournament to see who would be crowned the inaugural strawweight champion. Both women tore through the competition and eventually met in the finals. But it would be Esparza who came out on top with a rear naked choke finish of Namajunas. Years later the two meet again this time with Namajunas as champion and Esparza as challenger.
Rose Namajunas has vastly improved since their first meeting, learning more patience and streamlining her striking style. Carla Esparza has improved herself but her style has remained mostly unchanged. Esparza wants to get her opponent down and rain down continuous blows. Namajunas would much rather pick her opponent’s apart with strikes opting to switch things up as needed.
If the match up stays on the feet expect a long night for Carla Esparza. Should things hit the ground Rose Namajunas has the skill to swim in deep waters, but it will be to her opponent’s benefit. While both women are well rounded this is still a striker versus grappler match up at the end of the day. The story of the fight will be about who can control the distance. Can Namajunas stay long and pick her opponent apart to set up a finish? Can Esparza crash through the distance into the clinch and smother the champion to the ground? We’ll have to wait and see.

Training
When it comes to training, Brandon hits the gym about five times per week and is always looking for the best way to put on muscle. It is important for him to change up his routine once in a while and this will involve weightlifting, HIIT, and full body circuits. While he does enjoy working legs and back, judging by his physique, every muscle gets plenty of work done.

While the sets and reps are not mentioned for this chest and biceps workout, these exercises are great to try and can certainly give you a serious pump.

Nutrition
Brandon is always fueling his body and typically eats upwards of 6-8 meals per day. These consist of whole foods and the right balance of macronutrients in order to see real gains and to stay healthy overall. Foods in his diet are things like lean meats, rice, oats, sweet potatoes, fruits, vegetables, and plenty of nuts. He does, of course, have cheat meals now and then.
Supplementation
While Brandon uses his own supplements of choice, there are some staple products in a bodybuilder’s routine to take note of that can serve you well. A protein powder is great for seeing gains and working to pump you with protein to aid in muscle growth, recovery, and even weight loss.
For those pre-workout needs, looking to pre-workout supplements will provide energy and muscle pumps so you can take full advantage of every workout. Of course, a shredded aesthetic is the end goal and looking to fat burners can kickstart your metabolism, suppress your appetite, and allow for more calorie burn to give you the best benefits possible.

Liver King Details Barbarian Exercise, Diet Plan With GQ Magazine That Includes Bull Testicles
Liver King was featured in GQ Magazine discussing his exercise and diet that includes bull testicles.
Brian Johnson, better known as Liver King, has a lifestyle that includes crazy workouts and diet plans, including bull testicles. The word is out and many are talking about the physique Johnson has been able to build with this lifestyle. Recently, Liver King was featured in a piece for GQ Magazine discussing this lifestyle.
Liver King has developed this “ancestral” lifestyle following nine tenets — sleep, eat, move, shield, connect, cold, sun, fight, and bond. This, paired with brutal workouts and raw meat, have built the beast that is Liver King.
Johnson has said that he eats close to a pound of raw liver each day. This is a quantity that too much for organ novices but he can handle the meat because he knows the science behind it.
“I’m not a hospital, I’m not a doctor, this is not medical advice. I do, however, have a degree in biochemistry,” Liver King claims on his website.
It is clear that liver will be Johnson’s first love but he has tried many different meats to see which have the best benefits. This includes bone marrow, tongue, and testicles.
“Why eat vegetables when you can eat testicles?”
“Vegetables don’t have the raw material required to produce a healthy set of testicles. Testicles do have everything required to produce and support and strengthen them.”
Liver King has been able to build a shredded physique using this lifestyle, which he claims is all natural. This is a claim that has many questioning how it is possible. This includes Joe Rogan, who refuted the statement on an episode of his podcast. Rogan believes that Liver King “has got an ass filled with steroids” and that his body is not a natural one.
In his discussion with GQ, Liver King spoke on the comments made by Rogan and said that he would be happy to go on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.
“I don’t touch the stuff. I’m grateful to Joe Rogan for bringing me into his ecosystem.”
Liver King also detailed his workouts, which includes “The Barbarian.” This is an exercise that Johnson designed where he holds a 70-pound kettlebell in each hand, straps 20-pound ankle weights on each leg, carries a 70-pound backpack, and drags 120 pounds on a sled for one mile.
Liver King has built an empire using his insane diet plans and workout programs. Whether he is all natural or not, there is no denying the physique that Johnson has been able to build using his methods.

Hardcore Truth: Women’s Bodybuilding Is Still Underrepresented Despite Ms. Olympia Return
[embedded content]
Johnnie O. Jackson believes that the Women’s Bodybuilding division is still being snubbed by the pro league.
In 2020, the bodybuilding world rejoiced upon the return of the Ms. Olympia competition to the Olympia weekend. This came after the competition was discontinued for six years – with many believing it would never return. This is all part of Jake Wood’s passion and respect for Women’s Bodybuilding – and his plan to bring it back into popularity across the sport. While this is a great start, other massive competitions, such as the Arnold Classic, still refuse to put on a Women’s Bodybuilding competition. In our latest episode of Hardcore Truth, Johnnie O. Jackson comments on the lack of representation for Women’s Bodybuilding and the Ms. Olympia not being enough.
Johnnie O. Jackson was very pleased when the Ms. Olympia returned to the Olympia weekend back in 2020. But he was also disappointed in himself for not realizing that Women’s Bodybuilding has yet to return to the Arnold Classic stage. He literally didn’t even realize it was missing until he had a conversation with a Women’s Bodybuilding competitor this past week.
This exact situation represents the issue Johnnie O. Jackson sees with Women’s Bodybuilding in the IFBB pro league. Jackson even accepts that he is a passive part of the problem – which is why he spent this week’s episode advocating for more Women’s Bodybuilding competitions across the year.
Johnnie O. Jackson believes that the pro league still has a long way to go in order to full support the Women’s Bodybuilding division. The Ms. Olympia is not enough if nearly every other high profile show of the year does not include them. The Arnold Classic, Indy Pro, Boston Pro, and many other major shows still do not feature Women’s Bodybuilding. The Arnold Classic in particular is the second biggest show of the year and contains the largest expo in the sport. Why do we not see Women’s Bodybuilders on stage?
It should also be noted that Johnnie O. Jackson also mentions the New York Pro in his argument. In fact, the New York Pro does feature Women’s Bodybuilding in their lineup of competitions. While Jackson may have misspoke on including the NY Pro in his argument – the overall sentiment still stands.
Johnnie O. Jackson believes that part of the reason the division slowly fell in popularity was due to a dislike of the massive physiques. Much like some of (but certainly less damaging) criticism about Men’s Open getting too big. Jackson believes that, overall, the judges are responsible for what kind of physiques they want to reward. Jackson states – if the fans are unhappy with the state of physiques for Women’s Bodybuilding – it’s the judges responsibility to ensure the right kind of physique is rewarded to bend the trajectory of the division.
Of course, the solution is never quite as simple as it sounds. While putting responsibility on the judges is part of the puzzle – there may be a wider variety of factors at play here. Judges should not always 100% bend to the demand of fans – that’s a dangerous precedent. Also – the criticism of Women’s Bodybuilding physiques could also be based in unfair expectations outside of the judges control.
Many have stated that Women’s Bodybuilding is “too masculine” but there is also a point to be made that the show is not a beauty pageant. The women should be judges the exact same way the men are – femininity should not be a criteria at all.
Another problem may be pure roster issues. Perhaps many of these larger shows cannot get enough competitors to sign up for competition. This is a snake eating it’s own tail type situation. If there is not enough support for Women’s Bodybuilding – there will be less interest by the athletes. Thus less sign ups for the few shows that exist. Thus less shows across the year to build interest. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Regardless, Johnnie O. Jackson’s main sentiment remains true. The Women’s Bodybuilders that do compete are sisters in iron. They deserve the exact same respect and opportunities as the Men’s Open division. Jackson believes a concerted effort must be made to prioritize getting Women’s Bodybuilding back to the Arnold Classic and other major shows across the year.

Blessing Awodibu Looks Shredded and Ready to Dominate at the 2022 Indy Pro
Blessing Awodibu is in incredible shape one week out from the Indy Pro.
Blessing Awodibu is looking ready to dominate at the 2022 Indy Pro. The popular bodybuilder has been on an extended off season making improvements to be ready for the 2022 season. From his recent updates it’s clear that he’s more than ready to prove the doubters wrong in his return to action.
Sometimes it’s necessary to fall in order to rise. That’s something Blessing Awodibu had to learn during his first two competitions as an IFBB Pro League competitor. He placed third at the 2021 Indy Pro and placed even lower at the NY Pro.
It was clear something needed to change.
Luckily for Blessing he had a healthy enough ego to humble himself and take some time away from competing. Blessing is pushing himself hard during his off season and the preparation is paying off.
A Work in Progress
While his first attempt at wowing the IFBB Pro League crowd didn’t go as expected, Blessing Awodibu took the experience and grew from it. While he could have simply made excuses for his performances he decided to humble himself and go back to the drawing board.
He had called out Nick Walker as a means of building buzz and putting pressure on himself to perform. This time around it appears that Blessing Awodibu is letting his work speak for itself. With lagging body parts, particularly his legs, being the culprit that kept him from victories in 2021, Blessing has doubled down on his training. Rather than simply work on his strong points, Blessing has focused a great deal of his off season building up his weak points. Suffice it to say the consistency and hard work is reaping some hefty dividends.
Shredded Condition
With a little over a week to go until the 2022 Indy Pro, Blessing Awodibu is dialing in his training and his diet. As such the popular bodybuilder is shedding fat and water and is starting to look peeled.
His conditioning appears to be far superior to his prior stage appearances and it’s clear that he’s more than ready. Blessing Awodibu has doubled his efforts in preparation and it shows.
It’s quite clear that Blessing Awodibu has the physique to win at the Indy Pro. Still, he’ll have to show up on the night ready to perform and prove he can be a champion in the IFBB Pro League.
What do you think of Blessing Awodibu one week out from the 2022 Indy Pro?
