HD quality TV guys here, is it worth it or no?

Hey brothers,

I just scored a great deal on a HD 50" plasma TV, brand new still in box. I don't own a flat screen, never really cared for one. I have everything I really ever wanted in life, but just never got a flat screen or all things.
I figured it was way past due, and time to get back into the loop and stop being so darn cheap.
My question is, is the HD package worth it for these TV's?

I have bad eyes, so this is one reason I grabbed it to, so I can see across the room. Its deff an upgrade. But now I'm pondering getting the HD package with my cable. I mean I have the TV for it.

Plus football is coming, and figured it would be tits!

Dumb, and random question, but before I waste money and my time, I just want feed back on HD and those that have it.

The TV looks great by the way on top pf my mantle....

I grew up with static on a tvand VHS tapes that were never clear, DVDs on a lcd or plasma to me are so clear that IDK why anyone would pay all that fuckin money for HD channels or Bluray. To me it seems pompus, but I have alot of friends that are into it, but most there personalities are the type where they have to 1 up pther people. Im not into seeing someones ores on tv I suppose but I am also someone who wont pay over 100 dollars to have internet in a 2 inch screen on my phone, once again to me retarded and pompus, unless ofcourse you absolutely need it for work, (your own buisness, Doctors etc)

Hey bro I work for for a cable company and the only reason I have HD is because I get it free. Other than that its not worth it to me.

If you can get it free, go with the upgrade, other than that, a plasma or LCD is really all you need. If you can get the upgrade, you'll love it, but I don't know if I'd pay a lot of money for it. Maybe an extra $30-$40 a month but that'd be about it

use to install st systems i always told people if ur a sports fan its worth it, if your a sitcom fan ull hate it, companys spend the money to brodcast hd for sports and its trully amazing the clarity and depth but for people watching close ups of people on regular tv if u like seeing how bad the hot chicks skin is on your favorite tv program than its for u.

Hell I remember UHF and beta. My mom still has some beta tapes lol. Personally I like my HD sets but think that the price for the HD channels is way over priced for the amount of them available. Unless you get the sports hd which is good but I am not a sports nut so I dont have it. To me I have it for blu-ray movies. The quality on those are amazing depending on the movie itself.

Yeah I been hearing 50/50 on the HD reviews, that on some shows it dont work well, and sports its obviously the best. And for movies that its far out, but like stated from metal that a DVD will do just that. I been into renting dvds lately from my local super market so that is a plus. But, Im pondering how the newer sci-fi movies will look. Im not huge into sci-fi, but anymore Im kinda digging them. I know Avatar was nuts on my kid brothers HD TV, it was crazy. I dont blaze, but if I did smoke I would have to that movie in a heart beat on that HD.
My TV is a lower end one, brand new, but not the greatest. Im just wondering if its ok for the HD if I do get it. Im just siked for FB season. I watched a game at my brothers and it was tits, unreal.

I hear over and over tho that the HD really aint all that. Im gonna have to just test it out huh? get the package deal from my comcast I guess.
I also been tossing up the idea of getting a game system, and playing with that. Not much of a gamer, but when it come to graphics and such anything like that gets my attention.

How about game systems for my TV, what do you guys recommend?

I am really into electronics. Unfortunately the hd service has not caught up with the tech yet. I own a ps3 and I get all my movies off of amazon.com i dont care if they are new or used as long as they play and I dont pay more then 8.00 total with shipping. Even with new movies wait a month and you will get a great deal. if you are buying a game system dont buy the Wii. There is no hd on it at all. the PS3 will play blu-ray movies. again the quality is great depending on the movie. all the recent movies look really good. things like Avatar, star trek, 300. The probelm you get is when you get older movies that they convert into blu-ray for hd quality. they are not good and sometimes worse then the dvd. on those cases just stick with the DVD because all the blu-ray players out there including the PS3 will upscale the quality of the dvd to make it look better. I can get all nerdy on the subject but will leave it with that. If you have never had one before (hd tv) you will be blown away.

I only have the PS3 but if you are going to try and game go with the xbox360 but with everything else go with the ps3. that is why I got the ps3--- games and movies. If I was into it like I used to be I would get a xbox.

hell the only time I game anymore is when I am on my elliptical just to make it less boring. I have gone 2hrs before not realizing it. make it a pain to use the controller though.

Yes I bought a new Samsung at walmart, 50 inch, it broke 3 days after I made this thread, haha.. Took it back ( by the way, is all the toothless, moronic creatures all working at walmart these days, what morons ).
I took it back and went back to the TV section I got it from as I was instructed to do so, told them that I want a new one, and they asked me if I new what model it was. WTF? Of course I do you ass holes, its a carbon copy of the broke piece of shit that I just brought back. WTF?

They only had one left over from the year before, but same TV. I made a huge stink, I ended up getting money back, and the TV, and the price came to a grand total of 465$ when said and done. I guess wearing a sleeveless shirt, and showing your ink, along with some slight anger gets you this. j/k

Now for the TV in HD:
I hookedthis thing up, and tried programing it, the HD shit sucked ass. I was missing most my channles, and shit, the TV blocked most the channles that did not have HD. Once more, my temper hit a peek. I called the cable and went ape shit. They sent an other toothless wonder to fix it. What CLASS ACT that guy was. What the fuck is in this water here that we drink, I swear!

Now I have a new box, new TV, and the HD is tits.. Never seen anything like it before. It's awesome. I so cant wait for football season. Dudes, I'm so pumped its not even funny!

For the game system, I havent played for eons , so im like a newbie all over. My lil bro told me to get ps3, I know nothing about them. I like quest games like Zelda and shit, do they have them for PS3? I also love flight simulator games, what systems have them?

I didnt believe the HD hype. I got the HD and the picture is fucking awsome. What little I know about it is get a tv with 1080 not 720 whatever it is. The pic is only awsome if broadcast in HD and even the local channels are starting to do that. I still trip on what a clear
bright pic. it is.
