Creation or Evolution, which side do you choose?

I think this is a first for me ever on a forum to say this..in almost 15 years.

Ch3No2...I love ya man, I do, I love having you here, but this offends me. Please don't say such things...I for one am a very firm believer in God. It's very disrespectful to us who believe in him. I don't see eye to eye with your non belief, but I won't mock you or disrespect you...you have your reasons. I hope one day you experience and understand. That is what it took for me. And I am as skeptical as they come. You will never know that God is all you need, until God is all that you have left.

With that being said and done, I won't hold your statement or beliefs against you ever :)

Love how you put that man, very nicely put. formernpc, that was on here for a while taught me a lot, aside from my own experiences. I'm def on the same page as you here, and already look at the comments back---- this is why I knew this would become a fight. I don't care though. I also feel there I A god, and I worship as I see fit, which is in my head, not in front a group of people, my 'church' is my brain. That being said the last thing any of us should do is get angry bc religion, or lack there of should not instill anger, ind of defeats itself if it were to.

i kept away from this thread for a reason and after reading im still gona keep away..politics and religion..this shit causes wars never mind fisty cuffs..

I find it very interesting to see others views. Like many things that have been thrown into mainstream media and perverted by people looking to make money, religion has been painted with a broad unflattering brush.
For me religion isn't in stuffing some money into an envelope and listening to a guy read. My beliefs are far more individual.
For me the simple fact that so many can have so many different beliefs that are still so important to them makes it hard for me to believe there isn't something more to us than Hydrogen, oxygen, sodium, sulfur, etc
As long as we are respectful I think this gives members to get a chance to really know some other people. Please respect others beliefs however

Did God create us or did we create God, it comes down to faith and what you personally believe in, but I believe both sides should be respected. If there is an "Almighty then he created the mind free, and manifested his supreme will that free it shall remain by making it altogether insusceptable of restraint; that all attempts to influence it by temporal punishments, burthens, or by civil incapacitations, tend only to beget habits of hypocrisy and meanness, and are a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, who being lord both of body and mind, yet choose not to propagate it by coercions on either".

I wasnt going to bite. lol BUT, I was raised catholic. I think kids should be raised with some kind of religon then make
their own decision, what ever that may be. I have family members who will try to preform a exorcisim if you say you dont
beleive in god. I think it is arrogant for the human race to think we are the only intelegent life forms in existance.
At this time I am kind of with Presser on the energy thing, our energy uses this body then has to go somewhere. I do know
one thing, and that is that I am not running the show. lol One of my favorite sayings is "if you want to hear God laugh then
tell him what plans you have for yourself". Years ago I stopped spending much time or energy on things or questions that
I cant answer for certain. You have what you beleive in/or dont beleive in but I dont spend much of my time questioning it.
Like I said, I get up every day and I have little or no control on what is going to happen to me, what I DO have control of is
my REACTION to whatever is put in front of me that day. Makes things simple for me and helps me have better days.

Man plans, God laughs. I love that one

Creation - Evolution?

they are both right . .

God created evolution..?

This is just my opinion - you can not look at God as a person or thing. It is just the higher power. The higher power is basically what we do not know. So we give it a name so we can feel like we know it. ... So if we did come from aliens.. where did the aliens come from and so forth.

im sure science will continue to unlock more and more answers but with that it will create more and more questions. Its silly to think somone will be right in this conversation. You can argue the points untill your blue in the face but it doesnt mean someone is right or wrong. In actual fact nobody knows anything so we chose to believe. My belief can not be better than yours or more correct. its just my beleif, my thought, my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I think if we (as humans) stopped debating this topic and focussed that energy on more productive things i think this world would be in a much better place. . instead we hate each other because of it.

I think it is arrogant to force any religion onto anyone as it is arrogant to deny anyone their faith by saying they're wrong for believing. If you don't believe, don't believe but don't stand behind the symbolic fact that this country was built on the principle of Christianity then say everyone is wrong. If you don't believe, don't believe I for one and no other believer should not ever say you are wrong or a bad person. We all have our reasons for why we do and some are deep because it has changed their lives so lets respect that as it is for why some either chose not to believe or simply stop believing.

I for one am never offended if someone doubts me or singles me out, as Catholic/Christian we've become the punching bag of a tiny population who practice their God give right to express themselves.

Im def a believer in God myself. So I do believe we are created and we are all here for a purpose not just matter made up.

ive had enough experiences to know there is a God. i cant define Him or understand His plans or why shit happens the way it does but He is there.

Concerning the original question, creation vs. evolution, I don't think they have to be mutually exclusive. Why couldn't God have created though evolution? I think it is a little ridiculous to dispute evolution - almost every biologist in the world accepts it as fact. Every fossil that has every been found is exactly where it is supposed to be according to evolution. That's a fact. However, evolution is a pretty damn elegant. I'd worship a God who could do that. Furthermore, a God that could create the entire universe from a singularity (ie the big bang), is pretty amazing too. Imagine stuffing the entire mass of the cosmos into something smaller than an atom. I can't even stuff all my trash into the trash can sometimes. That is unreal. Science shouldn't scare the religious. Regarding creation texts such as Genesis conflicting with scientific creation theories, this shouldn't be a problem either. Genesis is clearly a reply to the Babylonian creation account and is meant to show that the God of the Bible is the true God (ie why God hovered over the waters (the main Babylonian God)). It was never meant to be taken literally.

However, the thread sort of turned into a does God exist conversation. To this end, the burden of proof is certainly with believers. However, on the same token, science cannot be used to disprove God. All the guys who are using science to try to erase God (for example Dawkins), are examples of what happens when scientists get out of the lab. These guys are ignorant in subjects like history, philosophy, mathematics, ect. Science is not the final authority on truth.

I'll agree that logically there should be no God. If there was a God, then why is the world so evil? Why are there 5 year olds with cancer? Why did the Holocaust happen? Why is there racism? In the Bible, why would a loving God allow so many people to die? I mean do I really think that when I die, I go to a magical place called Heaven and see my grandma? The list goes on and on.

BUT...The thing I come back to is something that others have said. No matter how bleek it looks, I cannot ignore times when I have felt God's presence. In these times, I know He is real. Doubters cannot take this away or dispuit it either. I am the ultimate authority of my own emotions. No one can tell me otherwise. And one more thing I hang onto is something someone told me one time... "Those who have the most doubt, have the most faith."

Alright who wrote that for you? lol

Seriously I respect your post, even though we view things differently it was put very well and respectable.

People dispute 9/11 not being a series of bombings still with over 2500 physists, architects, and engineers saying that's the ONLY way it could have happened they way it did, but you still have people believing otherwise too.
I have my Religion though, and don't push it on people, but I also don't bash believers or non-believers. On the same hand I don't care if you are gay, purple or blue, or anything else.

F That, I hate purple people.

I came out of the pisser at the gym once and It seems every time I REALLY have to piss my tie strings get a knot
in them. I really have to pee but keep calm and try to get this little knot out with my fat fingers. I dont know how
many times this happens to me or how many times I just wanted to cut the thing. I came out once and asked a guy
why this just happense when I REALLY have to pee. He said "cus God has a sense of humor". It made me laugh and
when every it happens now I have to chuckle. Dosent explain anything but It puts me in a different mood thinking of it
that way.

I agree with this completely. I cannot prove to anyone else that God exists, but I believe it, because I feel God with me. I can't show you the wind, but I can show you it's effects when leaves are blowing. I can show you its devastating power after a storm. And, I can certainly feel it when it touches me.
