What do you guys think about these? I've started adding them in slowly and doing the whole constant tension thing.

Def. always did.
once I hit failure, I keep going, half reps, then quarter. Then pulse rep. Love them

I always think that people look like retards when I see them doing one inch range of motion reps. Seems like a HUGE waste of time and energy.

I've been doing them on biceps and triceps and its the best workouts I've ever gotten. I actually do 1 exercise per muscle group that is just partials and I aim for 30+ partial reps. My arms swell to crazy proportions and I've been getting stronger and seeing results.
I feel like partials really hit the muscles without involving tendons

Post a pic Ch3no2. Let's see the results of your training style.

Maybe I'll start doing these. Thanks for talking me into them. I'll post a pic after I do these partial reps and get into shape. Call me in 6 months, you know to give me time to my glamour shots done.

yep i like repping out on chest press for my last excercise and just keep going half rep, quarter rep.
really like doing them on arms as well i just keep doing them and changing arms till im totaly shot.. i use the iso machine to do this...
dont think i would like to do it on legs like silk said..BUGGER THAT....

Love em! On my final set of an exercise I love to finish with stretch position partials. It's shown to be beneficial for hypertrophy due to:
1. Extended tension time
2. Blood flow occlusion
3. Stretch position overload
If you do it right you should not be able to do another set of that particular exercise. Works amazing for barbel curls, leg extensions, tricep exercises on cable, almost al cable exercises.

Only exception is MC IGF, I'm having hard time burning out my muscles as I recover even after most taxing sets fairly quickly and need to do a lot more volume to fatigue them muscles like before. I guess it's a good thing! Lol

My favorite is a thing I saw Jason Huh doing. I set the arms on the Freemotion at a low angle and do partial hammer curls. Usually 30 reps per arm. Then for Triceps I put the arms at a raised angle and do 30 partial push downs with constant tension and constant movement. The pump is insane

sometimes I will to giant sets for bis and tris. Been doing some partials for bis. I have been doing a full range set, then
mabey a set on bi machine for contraction partials (upper half curls) then straight to lat pull down, lay back and do bottom half curls from
full extension position. (hope that makes sense) Kind of like tha old bi exercise "21's" 7 reps from all positions. Pumps
are pretty good. Switch up order sometimes.

I understand doing things like 21's but doing curls looking like your jerking off or shaking a shake weight I just dont get. I get way more from drop sets and FULL range of motion.

Why not do heavy negatives? I just dont get doing a one inch range of motion?

Partials are good to add to your existing routine. You can use heavier weight for your exercise. I.E.. 200lbs full range bench press then 300 lbs 1/4 or 1/8 range bench press. Since you are using more weight you are recruiting more muscle fibers to lift it. More muscle fibers stimulated means more muscle growth.

I never liked this idea. When I do partials I actually use less weight. This method always seemed like a sure fire way to tear a muscle

Agreed! In fact I've seen several egomaniacs hurting their joints with just doing heavy partials for an exercise. Mostly on leg exercises like squats and leg press.
