I didn't owe much ($15k), but long story short, it got turned into collections and they were garnishing my wages. It has been paid off since April and they just now quit garnishing my wages. Now I'm fighting with these fuckers to get my money back. And of course the government is shutdown so now it's just going to take that much longer to get this finalized. I've had to send paperwork and receipts of payments in twice now. This is going to be a nightmare, but at least my paychecks are decent again. They were taking at least $80 a week from me. It was roughly 12% of my gross income being taken. I'm not going to know what to do with myself now that I have a little more money.

Yeah, $80 a week adds up, that sucks, well at least your closer now than you were before and $360 a month richer.

$360 is a lot to get back now every month, shit its a car payment. I know people paying $1k+ a month (they are also pulling 6 figures a year so don't feel too bad).

Now u can get off welfare and that snap program, and tell everyone you were really the surfer dude in the snap documentary they just did lol

This is why I'm looking at getting a car this coming summer. When it stopped at the end of September I'd paid over $3200 this year alone. It is crazy, but now I can actually stack some money.

And yes Presser I was the surfer dude and your taxes have fed me for years. But maybe now I can top 170# since I can afford my own food now

Nice bro, I got completely fucked on my student loan, so I don't think it will ever get paid off.
the 3 fuck facts were
they told me no interest accrued until I graduate----12k accrued
they told me I could consolidate------ couldn't
said (and have in writing) that it was a 6% fixed rate--------it was variable, doubling at times

I took out 39k, paid 5k on it , and now they say I owe around 90k.
I told them I owe 34k, and I will pay 25 cents on the dollar like a debt company will, and they won't do it.
A year and a half ago, before they hit My Dad and my Credit (huge loan, was young , needed co-signer) We offered them 32k, that he had a credit card for, and I'd pay it off. They declined it, now hit our credit, so now that's not an option, but they would take that deal now, go figure.

So fuck them now.

I am in the legal biz. I have successfully gotten student loans discharged in Bankruptcy proceedings. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I'm anxious for this to show satisfied on my credit report since this is the biggest thing I had on there. The only bad thing is that I had 2 separate loans, yet 3 show on my report. The odd ball one hasn't been updated since the loans were given to me (2007) so I guess I just sit back and wait for that to drop off since it has never been updated since.

170, your huge. lol Years ago I stiffed everyone. (all my credit cards) I was also dodging the IRS. I was renting a house
and the guy was selling it. He ran my credit and it came up clean other then the IRS leans. I think the statue of limitations
is 7 years and it is off your credit. IF you choose that option make sure from someone who knows the law (not me. lol)
I took a loan to pay of IRS and bought the house.

"go to school and get an education...so you can get a good job to pay your student loans and still be broke..."
