This is what my manual says, maybe you can translate this for me into real people language lol. Because from my understanding, I plan to just start right away at low pressure. (tren ace i am filtering) and then slowly increase the pressure with the vent open at first and then i plan to close it.
this is what the manual says.
INTEGRITY TESTINGl BUBBLE POINT TEST. = Flush the filter device with an appropriate aqueous solution. After the membrane is completely wetted, apply air under controlled pressure util air breaks out the membrane and bubbles from the outlet connector. the pressure at which air passes through the wetted membrane is the bubble point. Refer to the table for pore size and BP values. The test is conducted with outlet connector pointed downward.
FILTERATION INSTALLATIONS- Small volumes may be filtered using a syringe; larger volumes may be filtered by connecting a hose to the outlet of a pressure vessel or in line. using gravity or a peristaltic pump for the pressure required to filter. AIR LOCKS seriously hamper flow rates. To eliminate air locks during initialtion of flow, use low pressure. bleed off air with vent. then increase pressure and flow. the air system and filter device must be flushed prior to the filter being wettted. (use the manual vent to exhaust trapped air)
so i cant just jump into filtering my tren ace? i have to use BA to flush the system with my pump first? im confused. do i use that manual vent to inject ba into it? can you help me out. because i am having hard time understanding
Just do what I said.
U are only filtering gear. U don't need to do nothing because u know your pore size will do. Any integrity test this is only to reference a possibility break in filter or time to change any pre-filter. In my understanding.
Do what I said in post above.
Make a valve or use finger on suction end wetting first should always be done with ptfe filter when filtering liquid that is why I use nylon or pdfv on my bottle tops or syringe filter but just running a little thru should help but if you have a large volume to filter I have heard ba works best for wetting. Just put a little on membrane through vent hole and move it back and forth.
Then pump some air thru so it penetrates.
Ptfe handles chemicals like ba with no problem unlike other membranes.
After u wet start pump allow lines to fill watch through vent until full of fluids.
If they don't get air pushed out shut off pump and hold finger over suction hose. Pull it out solution to put finger over.
Now fluids are stuck. Finish filling with syringe from your beaker. Till only fluids are inside all air will have risen to top of coarse its law of physics.
After its full put back into solution carefully only after vent is back tight so other end has same affect of finger on it. Do this to keep AIR OUT. AIR WILL BLOCK FLOW AND LOCK.
U can start pump and presto. Once air is out and u have secured connects tight no air will get better again unless u have a leak but shouldn't get one.
Once this is done and u almost complete u may have to get bottom on beaker put by syringe and filled capsule or suction hose held above allowing gravity flow and air to always rise. This is to not waste bottom. Or u can do rest of bottom with a syringe filter your choice. Or fill thru vent and turn pump on then once air lock or full fill again with syringe till complete.
Hope u got it.
