so what does everyone do for a good workout? Ive talked to people who swear by the electro shock ab belts, some who say do 10000000 crunches a day, people who say crunches are a waste, there are people who sit in sauanas with a solar belt, people who buy machines like the ab lounger, and people who claim just running is how they got great abs. Im assuming hard work is the number 1 ingredient.

When i was 18 i was 4% body fat and weighed 140lbs at 5'9", but never had abs. I was running, lifting, and doing an assload of crunches every day but never had a 6pack. Is it possible that i never will?

humm not sure i dont usually do abs at all. everyonce in a while ill work them out on some leg raises or something. Deads cardio and other exercises usually work mine pretty good. My upper abs are huge anyways.

I don't do abs. Sometimes after I do cardio at home I will do a few crunches, but I never train them hard. Dieting is what make mine show up.

Fat loss works for me. I dont do abs at all. I feel the other work incorporates the core therefore ab work not needed.

I'd bet you weren't really at 4% bf then. If you were, you would have seen abs!

how did you come across that number? Ive been measured at less than 5% but in reality was probably more like 10-12%.

yes sir

If I work abs, I don't hit them more than once a week. When I do work them, I'll work them like any other body part. Currently I'm doing 2 or 3 exercises per muscle group. I do a normal warm-up for my first exercises then each exercise will only be 1 rest pause set, and that's it. So with abs, my first exercise is usually weighted leg raises. I'll do a few warm up sets, then start a rest pause set with the ultimate goal over 10 reps. Next, I'll hit another rest pause set of weighted decline crunches, again equaling over 10 reps. Then I'll stretch and that's pretty much it.

when i was in high school was when i was 4%. it was measured using what i believe is called a skin caliper? they took 3 measurements and that gave you your body fat. the reason i remember the number so clearly is i was a wrestler and i had to get a waiver from my doctor saying that i was naturally that lean and i was not cutting weight in an unhelthy manner

im with drew on this the accurate way is to take 7 skin calipers then figure. And thats not even the best way to figure it. Ive been 15% before and measured 12 or so when i know i wasnt. If you were 4% you would have seen your abs there wouldnt be enough fat on your body to cover them up or hide them.

most people dont realize how low 4% is heres a link to help you in seeing the differences

its not perfect by any means but gives you an idea.

ok well i could be wrong i just know that i had to go to the doctor and ger a release just to wrestle my senior year. the fact is that i have never been able to see my abs even when i was in great shape, i can always feel them but have never been able to see them. maybe the measurments they took were off, but even if i was at 7% shouldnt they have shown up even then?

yeah at 10% you should be able to see your abs. dont know man everybody has abs some are a little bigger more defined etc. But if you were that lean you should have been able to easily see some abbage.

circuit 20crossovers, stand up throw 20 knees with each leg, lay down and do 40 scissor kicks for 5 minutes straight.
another way to develop straong abs is get a friend to throw jabs into your abdomen and tense up with each strike and exhale do this about 4-5 times until you cant stand it.
do these things everyother day. youll have killer abs in no time.

doing squats and deads work you abs... i might do one day a week of "core" for about 30 minutes after my workout just to touch up
