<HR class=first>Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London today ... TMZ has confirmed.

A press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn't specifically name Winehouse, says:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

Last month, Winehouse canceled her European tour after a performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it.

dam i asked my wife who this was and she told me she knew this chick was going to wind up dead, im guessing she was a drug addict? I heard the name but im not up to par on music and such but the wife is and she said it was inevitable , Its very sad nonetheless

yeah just shitty when a 27 uear old dies, Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin etc. I was really pissed when Layne Staley was found dead that fucking sucked, Alice In Chains was in talks already of getting back together and although Jerry Cantrell is the heart of that band and they formed up with a new lead singer anyways, Layne had a voice that was unmistakable and no1 can fill that spot

Think seattle era not nirvana, soundgarden or pearl jam, and whammy you have alice in chains, the best from that whole grunge era, really more of a different type of metal band with some lighter stuff here and there. She had a drinking and drug addiction- this is very sad to see at such a young age- she had been to rehab a few times but always came out worse than before.

not newsworthy.....this is the same as ryan dunn dying a few weeks ago.....why must we glamorize someone who's problems are their ultimate failure.....if the average joe drug user down my street died tomorrow nobody would care......the most idiotic post i saw on this today was:

"if you want a free western society, then we should all be sympathetic about her death"

really?.....so a crack junkie's death i should feel bad about?......good thing she can afford her own medical bills and death costs then and not burden the taxpayers in the UK

yeah my old lady always watches that entertainment nightly, every other night they would be talking about winehouse either in rehab, out of rehab, or busted with something again...
