This may surprise you guys, but gyms don't cater to bodybuilders. If anything, we are the minority.
That's no fucking lie.. I think if they had there way alot of gyms would say get lost...

You are in an arguementitive type of mood today bro geeze, Im saying you'd think they could be segregated a little more to the individual needs of what you are looking for
I was at the gym.. And I was walking by the squat rack and they had a sgin on that someone had it reserved.. I have never seen this at a gym before.. do any of your gyms do this ???
It was reserved for the kids class. Teaching them proper form and all that. If it would have been for anything else it would have pissed me off too. You can thank Mario for that sign though. The guy was trying to show the kids how to go past paralel safetly and Mario's ass walks up in the middle of it and just took over. Felt sorry for those kids. Looked like someone stole thier XBOX....

I'm not being argumentative. And I'm not singling anyone out. But honestly, you can't complain that you have the same right to use equipment as anyone else and in the same breath complain that they should go somewhere else because they don't train like a bodybuilder. Surely you can see the hipocracy in that.
I guess I either didnt wrte it clearly enough with what I was trying to say, or you misunderstood me. I mean in the first place I wish there were already more gyms so people can choose which type will best fit there needs. I dont think everyone should train like a bodybuilder, and I dont expect anyone to. However it would be nce if I could go to a hym where ppl arent taking up a bunch of room to throw their knee up in the air or do twisting motions. I am the first to say that if anyone is trying hard at whatever they are doing my hats off to them, so dont think I mean otherwise
crg914 said:That's fine, and like I said, my comment wasn't even directed at you. It was a general comment in response to the overall attitude of this thread.
This website is called " Muscle Chemistry " . I was under the impression that although all are welcome to share and gain knowledge the point of being here is for serious minded muscle heads to get together and talk shop . You know what I mean by " shop" . Sure everyone has the right to do whatever in a space but bodybuilders are being pushed out of the gym for main stream fitness . Obviously the money lies there . But many of us would like to see the environment of the 60's and 70 's bodybuilding dungeons . Planet fitness kicks out " lunkheads " . Talk about discrimination . Some gyms only have weights up to 100 pounds to discourage bodybuilders . There needs to be more gyms aimed at bodybuilding instead of zumba aerobics .. So to have a squat rack reserved for a boot camp or even a special class is inappropriate if a person pays for full usage of a gym .
That's where the attitude is coming from and well justified .
crg914 said:If that's how you feel find a gym with that environment. But it is silly to go join a gym you know is geared toward the type of training you disapprove of and then compain about it.
And this is a bodybuilding forum, but what does that have to do with being 'better; than anyone else because our goals are different. I'm not better than anyone in a Zumba class because I lift heavy weight and they don't. Everyone has different goals. Zumba classes are popular because the results are what the majority of people are after. IMHO, there is nothing wrong with that. It's much better to be in a Zumba class than the average obese american who is sedentary all the time.
Well I def appreciate everyones knowledge on this board, although disagreements happen I apprecaite all of you, esp as of recently. CRg when u say that you should find a gym more geared toward what you want, thats what I mean there isnt enough geared for what I as well as a few others would want here. Trust me I dont like alot of the meatheads around here either, and I hate most the shit they do, like make fun of ppl not lifting as much as them, or saying shit like "Its funny how those peoples max is what I warm up with" or smashing plates on shit or dropping DB's back on the rack instead of setting them down, However I know some huge ppl (Formernpc for example) that would never make fun of someone trying, is a helpful good friend, and treats the gym as if it were his own, thats the kind of ppl I wanna workout with. My fav guy at my gym is this dude in his 50s won a bunch of shows earlier in his life, great guy always helpful if u have any questions. And again most ppl here I dont think are mean to ppl not bodybuilding, I have helped several older ppl now from hurting themselves by correcting what they are doing wayyyyyy wrong, and I know others have too.
The point is not downing anyone, again just ish there were more choices-----
much like how you can go to many different styles of fighting classes you should with gyms too
ex: If I go to box and wrestlers are taking up half mats or rings, wouldnt that suck? If you wanted to learn Jiu Jitsu and you walk in and 70% of the room ppl are doing karate wouldnt u be dissatisfied? I would be
Dude .. This site is for bodybuilders and people with an interest in bodybuilding . Muscle Chemistry ... "Chemistry " .. Get it ... It's not "General fitness one on one" ..
There are other sites for Zumba aerobics . We are bodybuilders .. We are dedicated , driven and focused .. We strive to push ourself beyond our physical and mental limits .. Sorry if you don't see where we are coming from .
We may not be better but we are a different breed than " joe average " fitness . I'm sure we would be in our own gyms if the situation was available and in the meantime we get pissed ..
It's nice to play the " devil's advocate " but I think bodybuilders need more support as the sport gets pushed out of gyms .
crg914 said:I agree with you here. Maybe you could open a gym? I bet there are others who feel the same way you do that would join. And I don't mean to paint this whole board with the same brush, there are certainly helpful, non-judgemental people on here. Sometimes it just seems like there are members who have the 'bodybuilder are the only ones who take training seriously and everyone else doesn't even deserve to be in the gym' attitude and I just don't have patience for that. Maybe the reason people think bodybuilders are assholes is because a lot of us are.
Thanks for the clarification, I forgot where I was for a second.....Look, I'm not saying you have to do Zumba, I'm not even saying you have to like it, but there is not reason to discredit it, and look down your nose at the people who choose to do it just because you believe you are "dedicated, driven and focused" and they aren't.
It seems you have forgotten where you were for a second . There are plenty of aerobics and cross fit sites .. This is the quest for muscle if I am correct .
If you don't know I'm a trainer . My love and knowledge lies mostly with weight training . There are so many people jumping on the band wagon with new and exciting ideas to stimulate a person to exercise . I get it . I have also tried to be knowledgeable about the latest fads .. In fact it's hard to be an expert in everything . My clients range from 11-72years old and many have a weight problem . I am not elitist . I have seen lots of silly exercise fads come and go . Old fashioned weight training , combined with proper nutrition and cardio yields really great results for most people . I am not condemning anything that would help a person achieve their goals . However I will beg to differ a decision by a gym to reserve a piece of equipment . I would never expect a gym member to yield to my training session .
I am also fortunate to be in the gym in town that is owned by a competitive bodybuilder so it is more "bodybuilder" friendly .. Dumbbells up to 220 pounds . Doubt I'll ever get there ..lol
I really don't get a gym like planet fitness and the trend to push out serious big guys but as you said we do have choice . Unfortunately in some towns people do not .
crg914 said:Dude, I'm just saying if someone is training in any way at all, fad or not, good for them. As long as they enjoy doing it, that's what matters, because they will stick to it. Not everyone enjoys an old fashioned bodybuilding routine. I know this forum is for bodybuilding. I myself am on a quest for muscle....that doesn't mean I think less of people who aren't.
