Broken Collar Bone!!!

Has anyone broken a collar bone. I broke mine bad. The good thing is they had to do surgery so it should heal faster. I feel a lot better now that it is fixed. I can lift my arm up parallel to the floor now and it has only been a few days. I just hate to loose all the gains I have made over the last year. What is the best thing I can do, to try and keep gains. How long do you think it will be before I can train hard again. The doc said since it was plated it should only be about two months before I can train hard again. He said in one month I can at least start lifting weights again, but to keep it light.
 
I've broken mine in three peices, it's a tough inury but since you had surgery and are plated now you should recover faster than normal. I couldn't do anything when I broke mine and could barely move my arm to take a shower for a few weeks so it sounds like you're already making good progress. I can't recommend IGF enough for helping speed your recovery, you will surprise your doctors and PT's when they see how fast you are recovering in comparison to what they are used to seeing. Take it slow and like Body2see says, hit those wheels 3 days a week to keep your body used to training and growing.
 
My son broke his making spiderman climb the wall and he was out of commission for a few weeks. With the plate I am sure it will heal faster. I had a stress fracture in my forearm from doing preachers with heavy weight and I was like you, sucked watching my gains go down the toilet.
 
that sucks man its so easy to break i think its 5ilbs of force per square inch is all it takes. just listen to your doctor he knows better then anyone. Dont get back into it too fast take it slow and you will be back before you know it.

I would be willing to send a couple at my cost just to help aid and speed up ur recovery, i dont need to make shit on it either brutha! I just know how bad it sucks to have injurys and not be able to workout
 
I had a 3rd degree seperation... does that count? lol... basically my collar bone is no longer attached. They said it would do more damage to re-attach it.

I know how much pain it is, your whole body hangs on your collar bone, So you can never sit without pain.

It slowed me down on like incline bench, and military for a year. Thats about it. now those are 2 of my strongest lifts.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I just hate to see the gains go away. I actually broke it in 4 places. I got a plate, 11 screws and some wire. I was in a lot of pain for a day or two until the surgery. After the surgery it was a major relief. The doc said I had two sharp pieces of bone pointing down and when I moved it would poke in me. I have a pretty good range of motion now and hope it gets better. My legs have always been a little off so I guess it is a chance to catch them up.

Presser thanks for the offer. I might have to take you up on the offer. The only thing is I still have 2 bottles from last time I got IGF. How long is IGF good for. I have never opened these two bottles and they have been refrigerated. Either way it shows you do care about the members when you make offers like that and thanks for the offer. If they are still good, I could used them.

What are some suggestions on how to go about using the IGF. I used it in my calves last time. I guess I should just stick to the injured area EOD or Everyday.
 
hey bro if u have some that have been kept cold then im sure they are perfectly fine brutha, no need to get anymore i wouldnt think, and yes I care brutha cause I would want to be treated that way so i treat u all this way,anyways hope it goes well brutha
 
Broke my collar bone in Thailand when my motorcycle had a slight disagreement with a tuk tuk driver. I knew it was broken, and after spending 4 hours teaching the Police how to investigate the incident, I finally got to the hospital - to be told after the X-ray it wasn't broken. Couldn't do a thing with it, except enjoy the pain. I told the doctor at this expensive private hospital, at my 2 week follow-up that I'm SURE it's broken. He told me to stop complaining - it's not broken - pay-up and get out. A week later I went to the L-Cheapo Government hospital, and was told it 'is' infact broken. Great. Spent the next 4 months in an M-Splint. Used HGH, took plenty of multi-vits and extra vitamin D ( a good idea ), and workout wise, just went thru the motions with my right arm. Working thru the full range of movements as best I could, very light weights, and working on technique and symmetry. Frustrating as anything, but was the right course of action. Don't push it. Just help it grow. Concentrate on movement and circulation, not stress and weight. Seems ok now, although the bone is a little shorter. Now I am just waiting for my IGF to arrive to see if I can build on the damaged area. It's been about 9 months now and I feel ready. The HGH and Vit D helped a lot.. as did the light movement, as opposed to resistance training. Best of luck my friend.

That is why after all these years this is the only board that I still come back to and it is still around.

I will start the IGF Monday and keep everyone updated. Anyone have any suggestion on how to run the IGF. I suspect the usual dose. Should I hit the broken side only.
